Sharad Purnima:- Sharad Purnima is one of the more popular Purnima(s) in Hindu Calendar. It is trusts that Sharad Purnima is the only day in the year when the moon comes out with all 16 Arts. In Hinduism, each human variety is connected with surety Kala & it’s believes that the combination of 16 different Kala(s) makes a proper human character. It was Lord Krishna who was born with all 16 Kala(s) & He was the complete incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Lord Rama was born with only 12 Kala(s).

In Brij area, Sharad Purnima is as well known as Raas Purnima. It is beliefs that on the day of Sharad Purnima Lord Krishna shows Maha-Raas, the dance of divine love. On the night of Sharad Purnima, upon hearing the divine music of Krishna’s flute, Gopi’s of Vrindavan sneaked away from their homes and families to the forest to dance with Krishna throughout the night. It was the day when Lord Krishna created several of Krishna(s) to accompany each Gopi. It is trust that Lord Krishna supernaturally stretch the night to the length of one night of Lord Brahma which was equal of billions of people years.

Pujan Vidhi: पूजा -विधि
- इस पावन दिन सुबह जल्दी उठकर स्नान कर लें। इस दिन पवित्र नदियों में स्नान करने का बहुत अधिक महत्व होता है। आप नहाने के पानी में गंगा जल डालकर स्नान भी कर सकते हैं। नहाते समय सभी पावन नदियों का ध्यान कर लें।
- नहाने के बाद घर के मंदिर में दीप प्रज्वलित करें।
- अगर संभव हो तो इस दिन व्रत भी रखें।
- सभी देवी- देवताओं का गंगा जल से अभिषेक करें।
- पूर्णिमा के पावन दिन भगवान विष्णु की पूजा- अर्चना का विशेष महत्व होता है।
- इस दिन विष्णु भगवान के साथ माता लक्ष्मी की पूजा- अर्चना भी करें।
- भगवान विष्णु को भोग लगाएं। भगवान विष्णु के भोग में तुलसी को भी शामिल करें। धार्मिक मान्यताओं के अनुसार तुलसी के बिना भगवान विष्णु भोग स्वीकार नहीं करते हैं। इस बात का ध्यान रखें कि भगवान को सिर्फ सात्विक चीजों का भोग लगाया जाता है।

- अगर आपके घर के आसपास गाय है तो गाय को भोजन जरूर कराएं। गाय को भोजन कराने से कई तरह के दोषों से मुक्ति मिल जाती है।

Sharad Purnima Vrat Katha Legend of Two Sisters
Once there was a moneylender in a village who had two daughters. Both sisters used to observe fast on Purnima. But, both had different views on fasting. The elder sister was very pious and religious and used to observe Sharad Purnima fast with full devotion. She used to break her fast after giving Arghya to God Moon in the evening and never used to break her fast without completing it. On the other hand, the younger sister was never very keen in observing the fast but used to observe it for namesake. She used to break her fast without completing it.
When they grew up, both sisters were marry. The elder sister gave birth to healthy children. But, the younger sister had no child. All her babies died as soon as they were born. The younger sister was very depress and to find a remedy for her sorrows she visited a saint and share her misfortune. The saint understood the reason of her sorrows and misfortune and told her that she had been observing Purnima fasts without any interest and devotion and due to which she has brought misfortune to herself. The saint advised her that if she observes the fast with full devotion and dedication her bad time would be over by the grace of God Moon.
The younger sister realized her mistake and observe the next Sharad Purnima fast with full devotion and rituals. After her penance and ritualistic fasting on Purnima, she gave birth to a child but unfortunately, this child too died immediately after birth.
The younger sister knew that her elder sister has the blessing of Lord Moon and she might have the power to make her child alive again. Hence, the younger sister made a plan and laid down the dead body of his child on a small bed and covered it with a cloth. She then called her elder sister to her home and offered her to sit on the same bed on which the dead body of the baby was lying. As the elder sister was about to sit on the bed, her clothes touched the dead baby and the baby came back to life and started crying.
The elder sister was surprise and scolded her younger sister for being so careless. The younger sister then told her elder sister that the baby had died at birth and the baby came to life again by her elder sister’s touch. This effect was none other than due the grace of God Moon and the power of Purnima Vrat. Since that day, tradition of observing the fast on Sharad Purnima started. Gradually, the Sharad Purnima fast became popular and people started observing it with full rituals.
