World Cup 2023 tournament format
The 2023 World Cup will have a similar format to past tournaments. There will be a 32-team group stage where the top two teams from each group will move on to the next round. The final stage of the tournament will have 16 teams competing against each other. The winners of the 16 groups will compete in the World Cup finals.
Every match in the knockout competition will have a winner. If there isn’t a winner in the first match, the next match will start and the winner from that match will move on. If there are still no winners, extra time and penalty kicks will be used to find a winner.
