ASUS has tried out different designs, yet the G22CH’s simple chassis might not give that impression. The computer is enclosed in a seamless metal body without flashy gamer-style decorations. A stylish RGB strip is located at the front, adding a touch of elegance to the case. Overall, gamers looking for a sleek desk setup will appreciate ASUS’ newest offering.
The enclosure features mesh grills all around to assist with airflow. Despite its compact size of 11.50 by 32.30 by 28.69cm, it is notably weighty at 8.4 kilograms, making it a challenge to lift onto a desk. ASUS has maintained functionality alongside the small form factor design of the G22CH, equipping it with various connectors.
The front I/O consists of two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, a 3.5mm combo jack, and a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port. Moving to the rear, the desktop offers two additional USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, two USB 2.0 Type-A ports, three audio jacks, a gigabit ethernet port, and an HDMI 2.0 connector. The functionality may differ based on the number of devices utilizing the Type-C port.
I was able to connect various accessories to the device with ease, such as my mechanical keyboard, wireless gaming mouse, and wireless dongle for headphones.
Additionally, the HDMI 2.0 port allowed a stable connection to my 2K, 144Hz external monitor. The desktop has Bluetooth and is compatible with Wi-Fi 6 for wireless internet access. I experienced no issues with connectivity and could maximize my internet speed on the G22CH.After everything, I was pleased with the design and functionality of the G22CH. Being able to fit the desktop on my small desk was a significant advantage. The black chassis matched my white desk well, enhancing my desk setup. However, there is space for enhancement as ASUS did not fulfill its commitment to a fully ‘tool-free’ chassis. To access the internal parts of your desktop computer, you must first unscrew a screw positioned at the back near a latching mechanism above the rear I/O. Then, slide the latch to the right to take off the mesh lid on top. Once the top lid is removed, slide the side panels upwards to reach the components of your G22CH.
Moreover, choosing an SFF build comes with certain inherent drawbacks. Firstly, the G22CH is limited in upgradability due to its custom B760 platform motherboard. Additionally, while the included 600W PSU is sufficient, there is minimal room for future GPU upgrades. Furthermore, there may be constraints on fitting desired components into the case. Can the G22CH be upgraded? It is possible to replace the SO-DIMM RAM modules and add another M.2 SSD drive to the motherboard for expanded storage. For example, in Cinebench R23, the G22CH’s multi-core score is comparable to a desktop equipped with a Threadripper 299WX, 32-core processor. Additionally, the G22CH performed well in both PCMark 10 and PCMark 10 Extended tests, achieving scores of 8,915 and 12,781 points respectively.

Its CPU-GPU combination delivers outstanding performance at 2K resolution. For example, Deathloop ran smoothly at 2K resolution with Ultra graphics settings, achieving approximately 100FPS. Even more demanding games such as Cyberpunk 2077 reached around 70FPS at 2K resolution without RT effects.
To enjoy ray-traced graphics without sacrificing performance. I suggest enabling Nvidia’s DLSS technology to distribute the workload. The provided screenshots reveal that I was achieving approximately 40FPS initially, which is playable but not optimal. However, activating DLSS at the Quality setting boosted the FPS to over 60 easily. Even less demanding games such as Apex Legends consistently hit 144FPS with all graphics settings maxed out. Graphics And Gaming Tests
For gaming desktops, we run both synthetic and real-world gaming benchmarks. The former includes two DirectX 12 gaming simulations from UL’s 3DMark: the more modest Night Raid (suitable for systems with integrated graphics), and more demanding Time Spy (suitable for gaming rigs with discrete GPUs). We then run two OpenGL exercises, rendered offscreen by the cross-platform GPU benchmark GFXBench 5, which allows for different native display resolutions; more frames per second (fps) means higher performance.
Our real gaming benchmarks are those built into F1 2021, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and Rainbow Six Siege. These three represent simulation, open-world action-adventure, and competitive/esports shooter games respectively. We run Valhalla and Siege twice each at Ultra quality (at both 1080p and 4K). Thermals And Fan Noise
A gaming desktop is only as good as its ability to maintain performance consistently. Fortunately, the G22CH excels under heavy usage. I tested several games consecutively, such as Deathloop, Apex Legends, and CyberPunk 2077. The CPU temperatures, monitored by HWInfo, stabilized at an average of 70 degrees, while the GPU temperatures averaged around 65 degrees.
It’s worth noting that the GPU Hotspot temperatures reached 80 degrees, particularly during CyberPunk 2077 gameplay. Despite stress-testing the desktop in extreme Delhi heat, the temperatures remained comparable to those of typical gaming desktops.
The unit becomes excessively noisy, making it nearly impossible to game without using headphones. Mainly due to the small 80mm fans serving as the sole ventilation for the desktop.
