Design And Display

The design of the Realme P1 Pro resembles that of the company’s 12 Pro series released earlier this year. In contrast to the vegan leather back, this model features a plastic back with a matte finish. Our review unit was in the Phoenix Red color option, which displays a brownish tint and a gentle texture that resists fingerprints and smudges.

There is a sizable round camera module on the rear panel, protruding slightly from the frame and adorned with 475 fan-shaped shiny segments that create an attractive design when illuminated at a specific angle. Although the module gives the impression of having four rings, the phone actually only has dual cameras. Furthermore, the P1 Pro has an IP65 rating for protection against water and dust. Moreover, the phone has curved edges for a comfortable grip. The volume controls and power button are located on the right side, while the USB Type-C port for charging and data syncing is situated at the bottom.

The phone comes with Hi-res certified dual speakers and a 6.7-inch FHD+ OLED display that offers an immersive viewing experience, particularly indoors. While the screen supports a maximum brightness of 950 nits, outdoor visibility may be lacking. On a positive note, the display boasts a 120Hz refresh rate that enhances performance across the user interface and compatible applications. Additionally, it is Widevine L1 certified for streaming FHD content from various platforms. The Realme P1 Pro features an in-display fingerprint scanner for security purposes. While not the quickest, it consistently and accurately unlocks the smartphone every time.

Cameras

The Realme P1 Pro features a 50MP Sony LYT-600 OIS primary camera along with an 8MP portrait lens that doubles as an ultra-wide camera, providing a broader field of view than the main camera. The portrait lens performs well with both human and non-human subjects, although edge detection is slightly less precise for non-human subjects. Some minor warping around the edges is also noticeable. The bokeh effect appears decent, albeit slightly artificial.

When it comes to the ultra-wide camera, it performs adequately. There is noticeable graininess throughout the frame, and the colors lack the desired appeal, even in properly lit settings. The 50MP main camera produces default images at 12.5MP resolution, delivering satisfactory sharpness and results. The camera also demonstrates impressive dynamic range in both daylight and well-lit conditions. Nonetheless, the colors are enhanced to enhance their visual appeal.

When compared to the camera performance of the Nothing Phone (2a), the Realme P1 Pro’s images appear to have limited dynamic range. The device tends to lose some details in darker areas, as evidenced by the provided camera samples. For taking selfies and making video calls, the Realme P1 Pro is equipped with a 16MP front camera in a punch-hole design. This camera produces pleasing images with good facial details, though there is room for enhancement in skin tone accuracy.

Performance And Software

When it comes to its performance, the Realme P1 Pro features a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC at its core. Paired with the SoC is 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and a maximum of 256GB of user-expandable UFS 3.1 storage. In terms of synthetic performance, the device achieved a score of 5,92,957 on AnTuTu and 929 on Geekbench’s single-core test. Its multi-core test result reached 2,680. While these scores may not be class-leading, they are comparable to some of its rivals.

The device should efficiently handle daily tasks and multitasking. We assessed the performance with games like BGMI, Call of Duty, and Real Racing 3. Gaming was still enjoyable. Despite having a 3D VC cooling system, there was a noticeable temperature rise during gameplay. The P1 Pro experienced up to a 9-degree increase in temperature when playing BGMI with Ultra HDR graphics for 30 minutes. While this might not bother casual gamers, power users may want to explore other options.

Regarding the software, the P1 Pro comes with Realme UI 5.0 on Android 14 pre-installed. The user experience is similar to other Realme smartphones released in India this year. Some third-party apps like LinkedIn and Facebook are included, but they can be uninstalled if not needed. Realme guarantees two years of software updates and three years of security updates for the smartphone, which is shorter than the Nothing Phone (2a) in the same category.

Battery And Charging

The Realme P1 Pro comes with a 5,000mAh battery and 45W fast charging support. The included charger can recharge the phone from 20 to 100 percent in under an hour. With a full charge, the device is expected to last a day based on your usage. In the PCMark battery test, the phone lasted 12 hours and 24 minutes. Although the score is lower than some rivals, the phone excels in YouTube performance.

Final Verdict

The Realme P1 Pro brings excellent value with a price tag of Rs 21,999 for the base model with 128GB storage, while the top-tier variant with 256GB storage is priced at Rs 22,999. In this competitive price segment, consumers also have enticing options like the Nothing Phone (2a), Redmi Note 13 Pro, and Realme 12+ to consider. One standout contender in this range is the Nothing Phone (2a), celebrated for its impressive performance capabilities and distinctive design. On the other hand, both the Redmi Note 13 Pro and Realme 12+ offer more versatile camera configurations compared to the P1 Pro.

Moreover, if fast charging is a priority for you, it’s worth noting that Realme’s own 12+ model supports superior 67W fast charging technology, ensuring quick and efficient power-ups whenever needed. Each of these smartphones brings unique features to the table, catering to various preferences and priorities of tech-savvy consumers. The Realme P1 Pro is a suitable choice for individuals looking for a mid-range smartphone with well-rounded features. While it may not meet the needs of power users in terms of performance, the device delivers smooth operation for everyday activities and casual gaming.
