Indian Forest Service Preliminary Exam Pattern

The General Examinations (Paper-I) test is the principal paper of the primer assessment. The Paper II of the Common Administrations (Primer) Assessment will be a passing paper with least qualifying marks fixed at 33%. The questions will be objective multiple-choice types. Additionally, for the purpose of evaluation, the candidate must take both Civil Services (Preliminary) Papers. Penalty For Wrong Answers

  • There are four choices for the responses to each question. A penalty of one third (0.33) of the total marks for each question for which the candidate provided an incorrect response will be deducted.
  • Even if one of a candidate’s answers is correct, giving more than one will be considered a wrong response and subject to the same penalties as for the previous question.
  • If a question is left blank i.e. no answer is given by the students, there will be no penalty for that question.

UPSC IFS Mains Exam Pattern

There will be a written test and an interview portion to the Main Examination. The composed assessment will comprise of 6 papers of ordinary exposition type in the subjects. The written paper consists of the following papers.

  • Paper I- General English – 300 Marks
  • Paper II- General Knowledge – 300 Marks
  • Papers III, IV, V, and VI – Any two subjects to be selected from the list of optional subjects. Each subject will have two papers  – 200 marks for each paper.

Note- Only candidates whose answer scripts meet the Commission’s requirements for Paper II (General Knowledge) will have their scripts evaluated.

There will be two parts to each paper: Section An and Part B, each part containing four inquiries. Five of the eight questions are to be attempted. Each section will have one mandatory question. Out of the remaining six questions, candidates will need to respond to three more, with at least one question from each Part.
