Significance of Sheetla Ashtami

The Sheetala Ashtami’s backstory is as follows: There was no peace on the planet once. You were surrounded by acute chaos. The community was not at peace. A demon by the name of Jwarasura subjected them to severe torture. He went around torturing people with various diseases. He only wanted to infect people with various deadly diseases. Beginning with humans, numerous infectious diseases began to disrupt human happiness.

In this manner, Jwarasur caused human panic, which ultimately resulted in total illness and death. The devil’s infectious diseases could not be treated. As a result, people who were completely panicked tried their hardest to avoid the deadly diseases, but they failed every time. As a result, they made the decision to worship Devi Adya Shaktii. Devi Ma was pleased with the puja performed by the common people and came to earth as the Avatar of Sheetala Mata to protect her devotees.

She first made every effort to purify the water in her rivers and ponds, and then she made every effort to clean the air so that people could breathe freely. She first announced the plan to rid the world of all forms of pollution in this manner. Mata Sheetala defeated the devil and turned him into a donkey. He climbed onto the mother’s fetus and begged for Her mercy. He prayed to the Mother for forgiveness and confessed his sins. Since then, the mother’s donkey has served as the demon’s vehicle.

Ma Sheetala Astami in India

People in many parts of India pray to Mother Sheetla to get rid of all the deadly diseases that seem to take the lives of ordinary people, especially those who live in the most remote parts of our country. If the Mother is worshipped with shrewd devotion, it is common belief that she must protect her children from infectious diseases like chicken pox and others.

Stale foods are offered as part of special rites during Sheetala Ashtami. Food is also given to elderly people so they can bless those who are younger than them.  Sheetla Ashtami Vrat is also the subject of another mythological tale. This is the story.

The Sheetala Ashtami Story

An elderly woman and her two daughters-in-law used to worship Goddess Sheetala on the very day of the Sheetala Ashtami. On the day of Saptami, they cooked food for the next day’s consumption. Because both of the daughters-in-law had sons, they were concerned about getting sick from eating old food and passing it on to the children. Consequently, they chose to love Goddess Sheetala with the elderly person. As per the Puja custom, they later took warm, fresh food rather than stale food.

They both pretended to take stale food while secretly preparing fresh food for a meal. The elderly woman knew very little about this. The women tried to feed the sleeping grandchildren after a while, but when she entered the room, she discovered their bodies. Both of them told the truth when the elderly woman asked her daughters-in-law if they had done anything wrong. When they were able to bring the young boys back to life, she asked them to return.

In order to win back their children’s lives and Goddess Sheetala’s favor, the two women went about looking for her. They happened to come upon two sisters by chance, Ori and Sheetala, chatting beneath a large tree on the way. The sisters were extremely irritated by the lice in their hair and were attempting to eradicate them completely. They were assisted in eliminating all head lice with the assistance of the two daughters-in-law.

“Your bellies find peace as you have cooled our heads,” the two sisters, who were extremely relaxed, told them. They were informed by the sisters that they had been unsuccessfully looking for Goddess Sheetala while wandering the streets with their children’s bodies.

It was pointless to look at them. Instead of eating stale, cold food on the day of the Sheetala Ashtami, they both ate warm food. The girls in-regulation perceived Goddess Sheetala and beseeched her absolution.

India will observe the Sheetala Ashtami in 2024 with the utmost devotion. Actually, the Sheetala Ashtami is very important to the Hindu religion. We trust that the information provided above has provided readers with a better understanding of this auspicious day. We pray that Sheetala Mata will grant you the blessing of living healthy and happy lives.

2024 was a historic year for the world of astronomy and space science. Not only did it bring us the first-ever images of exoplanets outside our solar system, but it also marked the 50th anniversary of the discovery of the first free-floating object in our galaxy, known as Sagittarius A*, or Sgr A* for short. In addition to being an important milestone in our understanding of the universe, Sgr A* has also become a key tool in studying the formation and evolution of stars and galaxies.

And while we’re on the topic of space, let’s not forget about another big 2024 event: the expected launch of NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) into orbit! The JWST is a powerful telescope that will be capable of investigating some of the most distant objects in the universe, including stars that formed during the earliest times in the history of our universe. With its advanced capabilities and flexible design, JWST is expected to revolutionize our understanding of how stars and galaxies form and evolve.
