The teachings were imparted without any discrimination and the children of ordinary men and kings were treated equally in the Gurukul. The stature of the guru was such that if the guru ever went to the king’s place, the king would also offer his guru to sit on the throne. Teachers today hold the same importance. Most young people prefer the profession and work through the college and university levels to obtain teaching diplomas, degrees, and higher certifications.
