Realme Narzo N53 Review 2024 Price, Performance, Camera User Reviews & More Details

Realme Narzo N53 Review: The Realme Narzo N53 is now available from the company as a new budget option. It is located below the Narzo N55, which was recently introduced and is a rebranded version of the Realme C55 (Review). The “Mini Capsule” feature, Realme’s take on the iPhone 14 Pro’s (Review) Dynamic Island implementation, is borrowed from the new Narzo N53. The N53 appears to have also taken design cues from Apple’s flagship smartphone. Is the Narzo N53 something to think about? For your consideration, here is our evaluation.

Realme, well-known for its low-cost options in the sub-Rs 10,000 market, has expanded its signature line into the slightly more expensive middle range. However, the Realme Narzo series continues to target the budget-friendly mobile phone market. The Realme Narzo N53, which aims to stand out in the crowded budget phone market and costs Rs 8,999, is with me. In light of the fierce competition, we will determine in this review whether it merits our recommendation.

Realme Narzo N53 Review

The Narzo N53, Realme’s latest budget smartphone in India, has a price tag of less than 10,000, making it one of the most affordable models in the Narzo line. It sits below the Narzo N55 smartphone that the company just introduced. The Narzo N53 has good features and is intended for beginners. The device’s sleek design, small capsule, and long battery life are the main features that set it apart. After using the Narzo N53 for a few days, I decided to write a review of the company’s most recent budget smartphone.

Before we get into any further detail, let’s get pricing out of the way first. For a model with 64GB of storage and 4GB of RAM, the Narzo N53 costs Rs 8,999. If you can stretch your budget by another Rs 2,000, you can also get it with 128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM. Technically, this makes it an entry-level phone, which means it is designed for people who are switching from a feature phone to a smartphone for the first time or for someone looking for a low-cost secondary device.

Realme Narzo N53 Price And Availability

The Realme Narzo N53 costs 8,999 yen for the model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, and 10,999 yen for the model with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. From May 24, the device will be available for purchase in authorized offline stores, the Realme online store, and Amazon India.

Realme Narzo N53 Review

The Narzo N53 looks exactly like an iPhone 14 Pro. The back camera housing, the rounded corners, and the flat sides all remind me a lot of Apple’s new pro iPhone. However, given that it is a budget phone with a polycarbonate back, we must say that Realme has done well with the gradient selection. The phone appears to be quite appealing.

Design

With a thickness of just 7.49 mm, the Realme Narzo N53 is Realme’s thinnest phone ever, and it does feel sleek when held in the hand. In addition, its 182 grams make it not only lightweight but also thin. Because of this, its in-hand feels exceptional. Regarding the design, Realme offers the Narzo N53 in Feather Black and Feather Gold. Realme claims that the Feather Gold model has a California Sunshine design, which I received. The back panel, as its name suggests, has a texture of golden lines that makes it appear as though sunlight is reflecting off of it. When light hits it, it has a beautiful, silky feel to it. The gold filament coating on the back gives it a very stylish appearance. At the back, there is a transparent square camera module with three circular protrusions—two of which are camera lenses and one an LED flash.

The power button and volume controls are on the right edge, while the SIM tray is on the left. The speaker grille, USB Type-C port, and 3.5mm headphone jack are on the bottom edge, while the top edge is empty. The front of the phone has a IPS LCD display with a waterdrop notch for a selfie lens at the top and thicker bezels at the chin. It is amazing that the smartphone does not retain fingerprints or smudges, as these marks really annoy me. It also has a glossy appearance. Overall, when you wear the Realme Narzo N53 in feather gold, it will show off your style.

Display

The Realme Narzo N53 has a 6.74-inch IPS LCD panel with a 90.3% screen-to-body ratio and a mini-drop full screen. Despite not being an AMOLED panel, the display provides acceptable visuals. The visuals are precise and sharp, the dynamic range is adequate, and the colors are bright. Additionally, the viewing angles are satisfactory. However, while the device is in use, the display does not support a 90Hz refresh rate. The looking over isn’t however rich as it seems to be with a 120Hz board and the distinction can significantly be felt while gaming. Additionally, its mere 450 nits peak brightness makes it difficult to see the display outdoors. It’s fine indoors, but it’s hard to see the display clearly in direct sunlight. Aside from that, the screen is quite satisfactory for the price.

Camera

The Realme Narzo N53 has an LED flash and a dual camera setup at the back. The primary sensor has 50 megapixels, and the second lens has 2 megapixels. An 8MP front-facing camera is present. When you open the camera, options like Night, Video, and Portrait are displayed. The camera UI is easy to use. You can access a list of additional modes by selecting “More,” which includes Time Lapse, Pro, Panorama, Slow Motion, 50M, and QR Code. When it comes to the primary 50MP camera, this AI camera performs well during the day in outdoor settings.

There are a lot of fine details in the daylight photos. The shots only suffer a slight quality loss, even in indoor settings with good lighting. The color is better than what you usually get for the price, and the fast shutter speed made it possible to take pictures of moving cars without blur. The images lose their detail at night or in very low light, and there is a slight distortion around the edges. There is a selfie camera with 8 Megapixels that does well in daylight. The clarity is good, and the skin tone looks almost natural. The focus is put on the subject in the frame, and the background is slightly blurred out. Additionally, detail suffices. It is in low light that the selfie focal point feels lacking. For this, Realme could have used a 16MP selfie camera.

Performance

The Narzo N53 is powered by a Unisoc T612 chipset with up to 128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM. I received the 6+128GB variant for review. The AnTuTu score of the Unisoc T612 chipset, which was produced using a 12nm manufacturing process, is 223584. It excels at multitasking despite being a Unisoc chipset. The background programs did not interfere, and there were very few lags or stutters. The 128GB of onboard storage was more than sufficient, and a specialized microSD card slot allows for a maximum of 2TB of expansion. While 6GB of RAM is sufficient for most day-to-day tasks, it is insufficient for gaming.

Heavy games like COD Mobile, BGMI, and Asphalt 9 do not run as smoothly as light games like Candy Crush or Subway Surfer. They might run, but only at medium graphics and slower frame rates. After 10 to 12 minutes, even though gaming sessions last longer, there is a slight lag. When gaming for an extended period of time, the smartphone also begins to heat up. The outcomes of a few benchmark tests are presented here.

On Narzo N53, Realme has also included its brand-new, one-of-a-kind feature called “Mini Capsule.” Realme’s Mini Capsule is a feature that wraps around the punch-hole selfie camera and is modeled after Apple’s Dynamic Island. The Mini Capsule displays the battery life, data usage, and daily steps walked. The battery status will be shown by default, but you must enable the other two metrics. Although the Mini Capsule looks and feels like an Apple device, there is still room for improvement. The Android 13 operating system (OS) that powers the Narzo N53 is loaded with customization and personalization options. Although the user interface is simple and easy to use, there is a lot of bloatware included, which is annoying. Pre-installed apps include Moj, Jio Cinema, Snapchat, Spotify, Share Chat, and numerous others. After all, users shouldn’t have to pay for apps, right?

Two SIM card slots and one microSD card slot are included in the smartphone. Although the audio has a 150% Ultra Boom speaker that is loud, it lacks depth, especially at volume levels above 75%. Overall, the Narzo N53’s performance is a mixed bag, but if you require a reliable smartphone for daily usage, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Despite the lack of 5G connectivity, the calling experience was passable, and there were no call drops or signal issues in poor network locations.

Battery

The Realme Narzo N53 has a 5000mAh battery, which is now standard on most smartphones in the same price range. If you only use it occasionally or sporadically, the battery will easily last you the entire day. However, at the end of the day, you will need to charge this one if you use it a lot and do things like long gaming sessions, hours of video editing, and more. The ultra-saving mode, screen battery optimization, and sleep standby optimization on this battery extend its lifespan. App Quick Freeze is also helpful because it stops all of your idle applications from using power in the background by freezing them.

The 5000mAh battery can be charged using a 33W SuperVOOC charger. The smartphone can be charged to 50 percent in 33 minutes with the included adapter, and to 100 percent in 1.5 hours (90 minutes). In addition, reverse charging is supported. The Narzo N53 from Realme features overcharge, overvoltage, and extreme cases protection, making charging even safer. Trickle charging is also useful because it charges the battery slowly but effectively between 90 and 100 percent, preventing overcharging of the smartphone. In the department of batteries and charging, there are absolutely no complaints.

Conclusion

An affordable smartphone with respectable features is the Realme Narzo N53. It has a good chipset, a big battery, a good primary camera, and a design that looks good. However, a few drawbacks must be taken into consideration. The device comes pre-installed with bloatware, the additional lens isn’t very useful, the display peek brightness levels feel low, and the gaming performance isn’t great. The Realme Narzo N53 might be a good choice if you’re looking for a budget smartphone for everyday use, despite these limitations. Although it may not perform to the highest standard, it does produce results that are satisfactory.
