Pitru Paksha Significance
When Karn died during the Mahabharata battle and his spirit was brought to paradise, he was denied access to conventional meals, according to ancient Indian folklore. As an alternative, he was given riches and jewelry to eat. His soul grew irritated and questioned Indra, the Lord of Heaven, why he wasn’t being fed.
The true reason why Lord Indra provided all of these gifts to others but not to his forebears was then revealed. After hearing Karna out, Lord Indra granted him permission to return to Earth for 15 days to provide food for his forefathers. Karna then stated that he had no knowledge of his forebears.
As a result, by participating in the Pind Daan (giving food composed of cooked rice and black sesame seeds), individuals are able to quench their thirst and satisfy their hunger while achieving Moksha (emancipation). The Pind Daan is the act of appeasing those who are no longer physically present.
