Eligibility Criteria of Indian Army SSC Tech Recruitment

Do you want to join the Indian Army? If the answer is yes, then you’ll need to meet the eligibility criteria set by the Indian Army. This document includes requirements such as age, education, and experience. Be sure to familiarize yourself with these criteria in order to apply for the SSC Tech recruitment.

Age Limit

• SSC(Tech) will have 61 men and SSCW(Tech) will have 32 women for Indian Army SSC Recruitment 2024. Candidates must be between the dates 02 October 96 and 01 October 2003 (inclusive), or 20 and 27 years old on the first of October 2024.
• Only for the widows of military personnel who died in a harness. SSCW (Tech) and SSCW (Non Tech): 35 years of age or older as of October 1, 2024.

Educational Qualification for SSC(Tech)(Men and Women)

• Eligible candidates include those who have completed the above-mentioned Engineering Degree or are in their final Engineering Degree course.
• Education Requirement for Widows of Harnessed Defense Personnel
• SSCW (Non Tech) (Non UPSC): Graduation in any Discipline.
• SSCW (Tech): B.E./ B. Tech in any Engineering stream.

Indian Army SSC Technical Recruitment Vacancies

Applications are invited from Indian citizens who are graduates in any discipline of engineering/technology/ Architecture/ Agricultural Sciences/ Veterinary Sciences and have experience of working in a technical environment. The candidate should have a minimum of BE/ BTech or MS from a recognized university. They should also possess an Engineering Degree in relevant discipline with at least 60% marks.

Type of Commission

• Grant of Commission: From the start of the course or the date they report to Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai, Tamil Nadu, whichever comes first, the selected candidates will be eligible for a probationary Short Service Commission and will be promoted to Lieutenant. During the training period, they will be entitled to all benefits and pay that Lieutenants are entitled to. After training is successfully completed, pay and allowances will be paid.
• Confirmation of Short Service Commission: Officer will be elevated to the rank of Lieutenant upon successful completion of the Pre Commission training at OTA.
• Ante Date Seniority: Engineering Graduates of the Short Service Commission (Technical) in the rank of Lieutenant will receive one year of pre-commission seniority.
• No Ante Date Seniority for widows of Defence Personnel for SSC(NT): Widows of Defense personnel selected for SSCW (NT) entry will receive a Lieutenant Short Service Commission but will not have any prior seniority.

Training

• Candidates who meet all eligibility requirements will be sent to Officers Training Academy, Chennai, where they will receive training in accordance with their position in the final order of merit (engineering stream-wise).
• Duration of Training- 49 weeks

• During the training period, candidates will not be permitted to marry or live with parents or guardians. Candidates can’t get married until they’ve gone through all of the Officers Training Academy’s training. If a candidate marries while in training, the government will discharge them and require them to reimburse all of their expenses. Widows of military personnel are also covered by this provision. Even if a candidate passes the interview and medical examination administered by the Service Selection Board and marries after the date of their application, they will not be accepted for training and their candidature will be canceled.
• Government funds are used for OTA training. University of Madras will award a “Post Graduate Diploma in Defence Management and Strategic Studies” to each candidate who successfully completes Pre Commission training at Officers Training Academy, Chennai.

Selection Procedure

• Shortlisting of Applications. The Integrated Headquarters of the Ministry of Defense (Army) reserves the right to shortlist applicants and establish cutoff percentages for each Engineering discipline or stream (cumulatively obtained up to the sixth semester for an Engineering Degree course and the second semester for an M. Sc. Computer Science/Architecture, 8th semester) without giving a reason. The center allocation will be sent to the candidate via email following the shortlisting process. Candidates will be required to log in to the website after the Selection Centre has been allocated and select their SSB dates, which are initially available in a first-come, first-served manner. The Selection Centers will then distribute it. The choice to choose the dates for SSB by competitors might be relinquished because of event of any outstanding situation/occasions.
• At one of the Selection Centers, viz., only eligible candidates who have been shortlist base on the cut off percentage will be interview. Psychologist, Group Testing Officer, and Interviewing Officer visited Allahabad (UP), Bhopal (MP), Bengaluru (Karnataka), and Kapurthala (Punjab). Only the candidate’s registered email address and SMS will be used to receive a call-up letter for the SSB interview from the respective Selection Centers. The Directorate General of Recruiting, IHQ of the Ministry of Defense (Army), determines the allocation of the Selection Center, and no requests for modifications are accepted in this regard.
• There will be two stages of selection for candidates. Stage 2 will be open to those who complete Stage 1. On the same day, those who fail Stage 1 will be returned. The SSB interviews last for five days, and more information about them can be found on the official website of the Directorate General of Recruiting, ie. www.joinindianarmy.nic.in. Candidates who are recommended after Stage 2 will undergo a medical exam after this.

Merit List

It should be noted that just qualifying for the SSB interview does not guarantee a spot in the final list. The candidate’s scores at the SSB interview will be used to create a merit list. In the event that more than one candidate receives identical SSB scores, the candidate(s) who are older in age will have a higher merit ranking. The candidate(s) with the highest percentage of marks in the qualifying examination will be place higher in the merit list if both SSB marks and age of more than one candidate are the same. Higher education credentials, previous performance, and other factors do not matter. Subject to meeting all eligibility requirements, those on the merit list who fill the vacancies and are medically fit will receive joining letters for pre-commission training at OTA, Chennai.
