BMW G 310 RR First time ride review, Features, and Specification

BMW G 310 RR The BMW G 310 GS and the BMW G 310 R are the two BMW products that have been built on the BMW 310 platform to date. The TVS Apache RR 310 is the third iteration of the platform, as all 310 bikes are built in TVS’s Hosur manufacturing facility under technical collaboration between BMW and TVS. The G 310 RR is now available from BMW, primarily for sale in India and other international markets.

Notwithstanding, I was puzzle by the KSOU fellow’s inquiry – “How is a BMW (G 310 RR) less expensive than a Kawasaki (Versys 650) that you brought recently? BMW it is!” In particular in international markets where TVS Motor Company is not a well-known name for premium motorcycles, the brand’s aspirational value will clearly work in its favor.

BMW G 310 RR

The big brother S 1000 RR’s tank and seat design are similar to the G 310 RR’s, but the front fairing more closely resembles the TVS it is based on. At least for the Indian market, there will be two versions: the base model with Black Storm Metallic paint and the Style Sport with the more conventional red, white, and blue paint scheme from BMW Motorrad.

With the exception of the decals and logos, the BMW G 310 RR is, in fact, the TVS Apache RR 310. As a result, it possesses the same characteristics as the company’s flagship product. After spending a day with the G 310 RR, here is what we brought back from our brief time there.

Design

The TVS Apache RR 310’s bin is where the G 310 RR gets its twin-pod headlight, full fairing, stylish windscreen, step-up seat, sharp-looking taillight, partially exposed view of the frame, side-slung exhaust with a chrome tip and heatshields, and five-spoke alloy wheels in this bike. However, BMW has developed its own paint scheme.

The G 310 RR’s color scheme includes a subtle shade called Black Storm Metallic, but we went with the more flashy Style Sport theme, which costs Rs 14,000 more. We wouldn’t include it in any other theme either. Red, black, and blue graphics on the fairing, fuel tank top, and rear panel complement the glossy white base paint. Truth be told, this paint topic even victories the boldest Apache RR 310 out there, the BTO variation. The BMW scores significantly higher in terms of finishing levels than the Apache RR 310, and the paint quality is also noticeably better.

Features

As previously stated, the BMW G 310 RR inherits all Apache RR 310 characteristics. As a result, it has full-LED lighting, multifunction switchgear that feels good to touch, and a color TFT display that’s easy to use and understand. However, the G 310 RR lacks Bluetooth connectivity, which surprised many given that the entire unit comes from Apache RR 310. It actually shows many information, including distance to purge, coolant temperature, and a lap clock (just accessible in Track mode). Then, the brilliance level and setting show are flexible physically, or can likewise be left in Auto mode.

Performance

The motorcycle is powered by a well-known single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine of 312cc. The motor is connect to a six-speed gearbox that has a slipper clutch and an assist clutch. The setup feels easy to use. The four ride modes of Urban, Sport, Rain, and Track can all be alter at any time. The motorcycle’s behavior and power output are both alter by these ride modes.

In the Track and Sport modes, the G 310 RR produces 33.5 bhp at 9,700 rpm and 27.3 Nm of peak torque at 7,700 rpm. In the Rain and Urban modes, power and torque output are decrease to 25.4 bhp at 7,700 rpm and 25 nm at 6,700 rpm, respectively. The ride mode also affects the claimed top speed. In Track and Game modes, the G 310 RR can accomplish a guaranteed maximum velocity of 160kmph while the Downpour and Metropolitan modes limit the bike to 125kmph.

In order to handle the duties of the suspension, the components include upside-down front forks and a preload-adjustable rear monoshock. The braking system consists of ByBre-sourced calipers and single disc brakes on both wheels. In conclusion, the 17-inch composite wheels are shod in Michelin-obtained tires.

Ride Experience

The BMW G 310 RR begins with a throaty exhaust note before settling into a rather loud idling sound, and once onboard, the experience is identical to that of the Apache RR 310. It gets louder as the revs go up, but it’s still a little too loud for me.

The engine produces the most power at higher revs, and it really kicks into high gear after 6,000 rpm— all the way to the redline. Between 4,000 and 6,000 rpm, the bike has enough power to get around town, but below 4,000 rpm, it feels uncomfortable. The G 310 RR will cruise at 100 kph in top gear at 6,000 rpm, leaving sufficient power in reserve. However, from 5,000 rpm on, there is a lot of vibration on the footpegs, seat, and handlebar, a trait it picked up from the Apache RR 310. It also doesn’t feel very refined.

Now, the motorcycle behaves very docilely in the Urban and Rain modes, which is fine for riding in heavy traffic but not for fun. In these modes, the gear-shift indicator also starts flashing irritably quickly, and in the short time we had with the motorcycle, we rarely rode in the lower power modes.

Suspension

The setup for the brakes and suspension is also very predictable. The rear monoshock and upside-down front forks are design for spirited riding without being overly stiff. The tyres, on the other hand, aren’t as good as they could be for pushing the motorcycle around corners. Why? While the Apache RR 310 has Michelin Road 5 tires, which are far superior, the G 310 RR, despite having a higher price tag, only has Michelin Pilot Street tires, which make driving on wet roads extremely uncomfortable. However, the setup lacks the confidence-inspiring bite that one would expect from a sporty package, despite the decent brakes’ progressive feel. Additionally, as opposed to the petal-type rotors found on the Apache RR 310, the G 310 RR has a more conventional disc design.

Price

The BMW G 310 RR was price Rs 2.85 more than the TVS Apache RR 310 when it went on sale. The bike costs Rs 31,070 less than its Austrian rival, the 2022 KTM RC 390, at this price. prices are all ex-showroom Delhi).

Is it Worth Buying?

It’s an extreme errand to track down motivations to pick the BMW over the televisions. The last option accompanies indistinguishable plan and equipment while getting extra elements and, all the more critically, better tires – which is all suitable at a much lower sticker price. As a matter of fact, at the cost of the G 310 RR, the Apache RR 310 could be redone with the BTO unit that brings movable suspension and riders triangle, subsequently making the televisions Engine Organization’s lead item an unmistakable champ.

The only reason to choose the G 310 RR over the Apache RR 310 is that you will receive all of BMW Motorrad’s attention as a member of the prestigious RR family. However, the Apache RR 310 has to be chosen solely for its value.

Conclusion

The BMW G 310 RR is an impressive motorcycle that offers a thrilling ride, advanced features, and top-notch specifications. With its sleek design, powerful engine, and cutting-edge technology, it is sure to satisfy the needs of even the most demanding riders. Whether you’re a seasoned rider or a beginner looking for your first sport bike, the BMW G 310 RR is definitely worth considering. Its performance, reliability, and attention to detail make it a standout option in the market. So if you’re ready to experience the thrill of riding this exceptional motorcycle, don’t hesitate to visit your nearest BMW dealership and take it for a test ride today.
