UPSC Prelims Exam Pattern 2024

The General Investigations test is the primary paper of the starter assessment. The Paper II of the Common Administrations Assessment will be a passing paper with least qualifying marks fixed at 33%. Penalty For Wrong Answers

• For each question, there are four possible responses. A penalty of one third (0.33) of the total marks for each question for which the candidate provided an incorrect response will be deducted.
• If a candidate gives more than one answer, it will be treated as a wrong answer even if one of the given answers happens to be correct and there will be the same penalty as above for that question.
• If a question is left blank i.e. no answer is given by the candidate, there will be no penalty for that question.

UPSC IAS Mains Exam Pattern 2024

The following nine papers will make up the main written exam, but only seven of them will count toward the final merit ranking. The candidate must achieve the minimum marks required by UPSC each year for the remaining two papers.
