Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro Review: Price, Performance, Camera User Reviews & More Details

Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro Review: The Galaxy Book laptops from Samsung have always been some of my favorite laptops, but they have also unquestionably had their share of flaws. Even on the 15.6-inch models, the Galaxy Book 2 series from last year only had FHD and AMOLED screens with a 16:9 aspect ratio. Thankfully, the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro addresses many of those issues. Yes, the screen is still AMOLED and has a 16:10 aspect ratio and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. It also continues to function flawlessly on your other Samsung devices.

It works well with Microsoft Phone Link, and all of your Samsung apps, including Samsung Notes, are available here as well. Here’s a brief illustration. My Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro were unpaired. I simply clicked connect after they showed up in the Samsung Settings app. However, while it addressed some issues, it also introduced a few of its own. First, it still weighs 3.4 pounds, which is pretty light for a laptop with a 16-inch screen. This is due to the more expensive aluminum construction. If you, like I, were a huge fan of that aspect of the design, it’s a shame that it’s heavier. Still, this laptop is excellent.

Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro Review

Samsung is taking laptops seriously. The Galaxy Book 3 Pro features a brand-new aluminum chassis and top-tier displays influenced in part by the company’s smartphone line, as opposed to simply encasing new hardware within the same shells that it used for the previous two generations of Galaxy Books. Naturally, Intel’s most recent mobile silicon is also included, enabling the 14- and 16-inch laptops to compete with the powerful MacBook Air. For those who prefer the hybrid approach, there is also the 2-in-1 Galaxy Book3 Pro 360, but this is a conventional notebook. Is it deserving of a spot in your laptop bag or on our list of the best lightweight laptops?

Sadly, this year, its flagship sibling, Book 3 Ultra, has received most of the attention. However, Ultra isn’t for everyone because it costs more than Rs 280,000 in India. In addition, this is the point at which the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro becomes a better and more accessible option for the majority of individuals who do not desire a laptop that is a complete beast. The Galaxy Book 3 Pro has a 16:10 screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and still offers two screen sizes, which is more than enough to justify the higher price. So, how does the Galaxy Book 3 Pro perform in everyday use, and does it have what it takes to become the best laptop for professionals? That is addressed in the review.

Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro Price

The Galaxy Book 3 Pro is an excellent laptop option for your daily productivity needs if you are okay with these points. To be clear, the unit we reviewed was an i7 model with 1TB storage and a price tag of Rs 131,990. When it comes to alternatives, the Asus ZenBook S 13 OLED, MacBook Air M2, and MacBook Pro M2 are all options. On February 1, the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro was revealed at Unpacked.

Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro Review

The Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro has undergone a complete redesign, which, like all redesigns, has its advantages and disadvantages. Instead of the magnesium found in the Galaxy Book 2 Pro, it is now made of aluminum. It certainly feels more expensive; The days when you could simply grab the screen and chassis to bend them are long gone.

However, aluminum is one of the heaviest materials used in laptops and is also a much heavier one. As a result, the Galaxy Book 3 Pro is significantly heavier. The 13-inch Galaxy Book 2 Pro weighed just 1.92 pounds, whereas the 14-inch model weighed 2.58 pounds. That is quite a difference. Naturally, the laptop still weighs 2.58 pounds, slightly less than a MacBook Air. It’s just not as insanely bright as its predecessor.

Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro Review: Sleek and Practical

The Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro closely mimics its predecessor’s form, and upon first glance, thinness and lightness are what stand out the most. The flat clamshell form has a luxury feel and is sturdy. The Galaxy Book 3 Pro, according to Samsung, has been constructed entirely out of aluminium, making it more desirable than many competing products on the market. Additionally, while Samsung launched the Galaxy Book 3 Pro across the globe in Graphite and Beige colours, India exclusively receives the former. The Graphite appeared to be a colour that might stay longer and won’t likely make you anxious about wiping the lid and keypad every few days during our review’s usage.

In India, the Galaxy Book 3 Pro is offered with 14- and 16-inch screens. Out of the two, we chose the smaller one because it is more transportable. The Galaxy Book 3 Pro weighs 1.17 kilogrammes and is lightweight for usage in a cafe or around the workplace. It may also conveniently fit into the smallest bags because to its 11.3mm compact design.

From the correct letter spacing to the sizable palm rest underneath the keyboard, everything is in place. We will discuss the touchpad in more depth in a moment. The touchpad on the Galaxy Book 3 Pro is up to 39% larger than the one on the Galaxy Book 2. The laptop receives bonus points for its keyboard, which may be helpful for those who frequently type emails, articles, and other types of documents. By the way, we enjoyed penning several articles on the Galaxy Book 3 Pro’s keyboard, and the same was true for this review.

The Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro has two Thunderbolt 4 ports, one USB Type-A port, one HDMI 1.4 port, one MicroSD port, and a headphone/mic jack. The Galaxy Book 3 Pro has adequate connectivity ports to satisfy users for such a stylish laptop. Its dimensions are 312.3 mm by 223.8 mm by 11.3 mm. There is a bezel surrounding the 14-inch display, particularly at the bottom. We anticipate wider scope, even if Samsung has reduced the bezel size compared to its Galaxy Book 2 series. The 1080p webcam is enough for all meetings; we will cover quality in more detail under performance. The keyboard of the Galaxy Book 3 Pro is unquestionably what we enjoyed best about it.

Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro Review: Top-notch display, Again

Samsung went from the 16:9 aspect ratio we saw on the Galaxy Book 3 Pro’s predecessor to a 16:10 ratio, giving the display a significant update. Because of this, even though the 14-inch laptop is only a few inches larger than a 13.3-inch laptop, it appears much bigger. Additionally, the screen resolution has increased significantly from the predecessor’s 19201080 screen to a massive 28801800 pixels. The Galaxy Book 3 Pro’s AMOLED panel is the greatest one we’ve used in this section, as would be expected. Finally, the business has added an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate to the fun, resulting in more seamless transitions and an improved viewing experience overall.

When it comes to the display alone, the Galaxy Book 3 Pro provides a superb viewing experience for multimedia content as well as for activities like picture and video editing. The writing is bright, and the colours are very accurate and crisp. While viewing angles are excellent, sunlit visibility is likewise passable. The touchscreen experience is the only big feature that’s been left out, and it would have improved the product as a whole.

Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro Review: Excellent everyday companion (but not for gamers)

Samsung provided us with the best specifications. A 14-inch Galaxy Book 3 Pro with 1TB of storage, 16GB of RAM, and a Core i7-1360P CPU from the 13th generation of Intel running at 2.20GHz is also available. Additionally, there are onboard Intel Iris Xe Graphics. We used this laptop for the majority of our productivity duties, including writing, rewriting stories, editing images using Adobe Lightroom Classic and frequently Photoshop, (sometimes) streaming videos, and very (very) light casual gaming, as Samsung is marketing this laptop as the finest work laptop for working professionals. The laptop also runs Windows 11 Home.

The Galaxy Book 3 Pro hasn’t stuttered once during the review period, and we were generally pleased with the laptop’s performance. A word of caution, though, for those thinking about getting the Galaxy Book 3 Pro for video editing or some gaming: look at the Ultra model instead. It’s better for all those chores. Additionally, we ignored the benchmarks for this one because, given that it is aimed at productivity, we anticipated low scores. The audio output of the laptop was standard. The quad speakers of the Galaxy Book 3 Pro are tuned by Samsung’s AKG brand and feature two 5W speakers and two 2W tweeters, but the sound output isn’t very strong in our opinion.

The embedded fingerprint reader for biometric authentication is available on the Galaxy Book 3 Pro, and it was successful 10 out of 10 times during the review. Samsung did a great job with the fingerprint scanner, however given the high price of the laptop, we had hoped that face unlock would also be offered. The touchpad on this high-end laptop is one of the biggest we’ve recently used, and it works well for precise work. For instance, the Galaxy Book 3 Pro’s touchpad was effective when we used it to edit images. Fan noise is one area where we had hoped the Galaxy Book 3 Pro would perform a little better. The fans become agitated and begin to make noise after prolonged use.

The battery was another area where the laptop performed mediocrely. The Galaxy Book 3 Pro’s battery life was only about 5 to 6 hours, which is less than the manufacturer states. A 65W charging adaptor and a 63Wh battery are included in the box. When working in settings like cafes, where you occasionally only have temporary access to a charging plug, quick charging can be a huge help. One area where the Galaxy Book 3 Pro falls short of its competitors is the battery.

Conclusion

The Galaxy Book 3 Pro is a great choice for working professionals seeking for a reliable laptop that can last several years, with a starting price of Rs 131,990. A new 120Hz AMOLED display with a better resolution and 16:10 aspect ratio, a sturdy design, a sizable touchpad, an outstanding keyboard, a 1080 webcam, and respectable everyday performance are just a few of the benefits it provides. The Galaxy Book 3 Pro functions flawlessly for individuals who already own a Samsung smartphone. Of course, there are certain aspects that may have been improved, such as the speakers, touchscreen, and the fans’ efficiency.
