Royal Enfield Scram 411 Review A better bike then Himalayan?

Royal Enfield Scram 411 With close to 5500 kilometers on the odometer, my long-term ride has been the Royal Enfield Scram 411 for more than three months. I have used it a lot for commuting, especially in the past month, when I have driven the Scram nearly 100 kilometers per day. The Scram 411 has also participated in a couple of highway runs over the past ninety or so days. My experience on the 400-kilometer intercity rides was mediocre to say the least, despite the fact that a genuine long-distance tour is on the agenda.

However, the most exciting thing for me since the Scram joined the KSOU Long Term fleet was honing my off-road skills. Since the Himalayan won the two rounds in our previous reports, I also wanted to know if the Scram 411 is up to speed when it comes to taking the broken path. After all, it is a lot like the Himalayan in many ways.

Royal Enfield Scram 411 Review

The Royal Enfield Scram 411’s ability to handle everything was the most common way I could summarize our time together. a genuine motorcycle-based Swiss army knife.

The Auto car India long-term fleet’s backbone has been the Scram 411 for roughly nine months. This motorcycle has endured everything from jam-packed commutes to exhausting road trips and even an off-road training session.

Best things in this bike

The Scram’s styling was one of the first things that gave me confidence to take it off-road. The motorcycle is purposeful visually even without the crash guards and fender designed for off-roading. Its upswept exhaust, spoke wheels, and minimal bodywork add to its appeal. The Scram appears to be able to withstand a beating thanks to its robust construction.

It did survive the trail without incident. Moreover, it proved to be more entertaining than I had anticipated. While the suspension on the Hightail it doesn’t have as much travel to propose as its kin, the arrangement feels sufficient for moderate going 4×4 romping. It is just when you begin pushing and the path gets more brutal that the front starts to reach as far down as possible. However, the Scram feels more than just right for someone just starting out in off-road riding.

The motorcycle is at home, devouring everything in its path, even on tarmac with potholes and broken roads. Standing up and riding makes things more straightforward. Now, the standing ergos are adequate for my 5’8″ height. The handlebar, which is lower than the Himalayan’s, is easy for me to reach. The fuel tank also gives you good thigh grip, and the whole triangle gives you confidence with the pegs right below you. However, if you are taller than six feet, it may be a slight stretch.

Things I Don’t like

One of my biggest complaints with the Scram ever since we introduced it as our long-term was its weight. Despite the fact that the Hightail it weighs around 9 kg not exactly the Himalayan, it actually feels weighty while moving and pushing around. When riding off-road, when most of the weight is in the middle, it stands out even more.

Even though the Himalayan is heavier and more maneuverable than the Scram, it does feel more agile. However, the lower weight does not significantly alter the riding dynamics. In the previous report, I mentioned that the feel of the clutch and brakes is also wooden and requires a lot of lever action. Even the gear shifts are clunky, so when I was riding off-road, I kept making the wrong shifts.

Having said that, is the Scram 411 suitable for use off-road? The Scram is suitable for use off-road, but it has the same refinement issues as the Himalayan. It is capable of doing almost everything the Himalayan can do, and it can do it well. Aside from that, the only thing that sets it apart from its sibling is how welcoming it is to newcomers. The Scram, in contrast to the Himalayan, has a seat height that is low enough to accommodate riders who are shorter. I could undoubtedly have both my feet on the ground which converts into more certainty while riding trails.

Price an Conclusion

After riding the Scram for more than 5000 kilometers, I have come to enjoy it quite a bit. It functions well as a fun, off-road-friendly motorcycle, a respectable highway companion, and an easy commuter. All of this is offered at a starting price of Rs 2.03 lakh, ex-showroom, approximately Rs 10,000 less than the Himalayan’s requirements. It is safe to say that the Scram 411 is just as capable as its sibling now, nearly five months later. In addition, despite losing points in previous reports, it has been able to redeem itself in recent months. So, two for two.

Conclusion

The Royal Enfield Scram 411 is a fantastic bike that offers an exhilarating ride and impressive off-road capabilities. With its rugged design and powerful engine, it is definitely a contender to the popular Himalayan. The Scram 411 provides a smooth and comfortable ride, making it suitable for both city commuting and adventurous trails. Whether you’re a seasoned rider or just starting out, this bike will surely exceed your expectations. If you’re in the market for a new motorcycle that combines style, performance, and versatility, the Royal Enfield Scram 411 is definitely worth considering.
