Ola S1 Pro Review in Long Term 2024

Ola S1 Pro I rode the Ather 450X for a few days last year, my first experience with electric scooters. To say that I was “fascinated by this scooter” would be an understatement. The issue of riding EVs went on as the Ola S1 Pro entered the KSEOU carport and turned into my most memorable long-termer.

Now that we’ve driven 5,800 kilometers in almost ten months, our S1 Pro is scheduled to back of decision, giving you enough time to decide whether or not to buy it.

Ola S1 Pro Review

Ola S1 Pro has been quite problematic in the four months I’ve had it. It has broken twice, which is pretty unacceptable for a scooter with only 166 kilometers on the clock. The S1 Pro doesn’t like being left untouched and ignored for long periods of time, just like a loyal dog. Subsequent to getting back from seven days in length outing to Israel, I had a go at fueling up the S1 Pro and literally nothing occurred.

The scooter had no life left in it. I contacted the Ola customer service line, and the service van came to retrieve my scooter within two hours. It appears that one of the cells was damaged as a result of the battery’s deep discharge while I was away. The bike was returned in two or three days with a beta rendition of the new Move operating system 2.0 programming.

Cost Cutting in scooter

Let’s address the issue that is being ignore. How much money did I spend on the scooter’s charge over the course of all these miles? Given that its 3.9kWh battery provides 100km of range on a single charge and that 1kWh of power costs around Rs. 8 in Mumbai, the total cost for the full journey is close to Rs. 1,809. For comparison, the cost of gasoline alone for a 125cc scooter with an average fuel efficiency of 55kmpl is at least Rs. 7,500. The consumable costs during the first three free maintenance visits as well as any further fees as the vehicle’s mileage increases must also be considered. When you compare the cost of operating an EV with an ICE two-wheeler, the latter feels more expensive.

Things I liked in this Scooter

I have grown to like the Ola S1 Pro’s general usability after spending so much time with it. To be more specific, it’s the functionality, boot space, and a few features. As my daily journey to and from work is about 40 kilometres, the scooter only required to be charge once every two days thanks to its 100 kilometres of electricity in one go. The battery had adequate charge even when I had one of those days with a lengthy commute; it could be use the following day for another 30 km (roughly) before range anxiety set in. Additionally, the scooter automatically enters eco mode when the range drops below 25 kilometres and the highest speed is set at 43 kilometres per hour. This enables a steady discharge of the charge until the battery is totally discharged.

The 36-liter boot storage is the next underappreciate feature of the S1 Pro. The smooth, rectangular chamber is an excellent blessing for regular usage! It carries the charger, my complete bag, and if necessary, an additional pair of shoes or rain gear for my commute to and from the office. There was a time when I emptied more than 20 magazines, and there was still room in the boot’s crevices. Not to add that the floorboard spine prevents you from using the utility hook at the front to hang your items.

When it comes to performance, the S1 Pro excels, especially in the sport and hyper modes, with respectable acceleration. This e-scooter may easily exceed 100 kph (speedometer stated) when in the hyper mode. The BMS only permits you to ride it in this mode for a brief period of time before the system begins to heat up. Once the temperature rises, switching modes on the scooter is a complete no-brainer; you must continue to ride in regular mode until the system has cooled. The highest speeds for the standard and sport modes are 80 and 95 kilometres per hour, respectively. Furthermore, these speeds are sufficient for daily use.

Things I don’t like

The scooter is a very simple device to live with. In addition to being quite utilitarian, it also has a positive vibe. However, there are several issues with the Ola S1 Pro. It has some weaknesses, both in terms of foundations and software issues. Even my phone was stow in the boot when it malfunction once during a downpour, as was already describe. I had to manually lift the seat up from the side, slide my hand inside, and grab for the phone because of how urgent the matter was. As that is the scooter’s usual build quality, this might provide a safety risk. There were other times as well when the side-stand sensor and cruise control behaved pretty erratically. And most recently, despite the scooter being unlock and even in ride mode, the TFT would just show a blank screen.

A scooter must check the comfort box if you intend to use it for commuting. In this area, Ola has kind of stumbled. The front of the seat is short and thin. Suvil, the pillion, and I are around the same build, so you can see that there isn’t much room between us on the seat. After a little period of cycling, this becomes unpleasant. You’ll need space on the scooter to move around or make adjustments because the cushioning is also softer. However, the cramped conditions here make it more difficult.

The Ola S1 Pro’s front suspension is a touch too supple and bottoms out on some of the smallest potholes and speed bumps. After only a few months of use, the brakes also felt a bit less precise than previously. Additionally, the bite has become strangely harsher, and the rear tyre has started to lock while braking moderately. Before, the growth and bite were extremely predictable, thus this was not the case.

Should you buy?

The Ola S1 Pro may be purchase, yes. It’s intend for young consumers, nerds, and office workers who want more than just a basic electric scooter, but, to give you a clearer idea of who it’s for. While any model, whether electric or gasoline-powered, can get you from point A to point B, the S1 Pro will let you to accomplish it safely and affordably (low operating costs). While you’re at it, you may enjoy yourself (if you feel like utilising the speakers and moods) and stow your luggage with a little bit more ease thanks to the spacious boot.

The basic and S variants of the TVS iQube are additional possibilities in the electric two-wheeler market, however they have a substantially lower asking price. These have decades of OEM dependability and experience. In addition, there is the Bajaj Chetak and Ather 450X Gen 3, which has superior quality and a somewhat higher asking price. However, the aforementioned electric scooters’ range and general performance are inferior to those of the Ola S1 Pro. If bragging rights are important to you, even those are greater with the Ola scooter. Even while some of the Ola’s features aren’t necessary, they do improve the whole package and provide the S1 Pro a minor advantage over its rivals. And if that’s a gamble you’re ready to make, the S1 Pro might not be your only option.

Conclusion

The Ola S1 Pro has proven to be an exceptional electric scooter in the long term. With its powerful motor, long-lasting battery life, and sleek design, it offers a convenient and eco-friendly mode of transportation. Whether you’re commuting to work or running errands around town, the Ola S1 Pro delivers a smooth and enjoyable ride. Its advanced features, such as regenerative braking and smart connectivity, further enhance the overall experience. If you’re considering investing in an electric scooter, the Ola S1 Pro is definitely worth considering for its durability, performance, and sustainability.
