Northeastern States Assam new Governor- Gulab Chand Kataria, the opposition leader in the Rajasthan Assembly, will become the next Governor of Assam in a significant reshuffle. Assam’s current governor is Professor Jagdish Mukhi, who took office on October 10, 2017. Gulab Chand Kataria is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and is a politician. He served as the home minister for Rajasthan from 2014 to 2018. He is a senior BJP leader and a member of the party’s central working committee. Kataria takes over for the current Governor of Assam at a time when a number of states are going through transitions. According to reports, there will be new governors in as many as 13 Indian states. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, tweeted his congratulations to Gulab Chand Kataria on his appointment as the next governor of Assam.

Gulab Chand Kataria, the current Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the state assembly and former home minister of Rajasthan, will take over as governor of Assam and succeed Jagdish Mukhi. The Rashtrapati Bhavan announced thirteen gubernatorial appointments on Sunday, including Kataria; Rajasthan is one of three states that will hold elections in November and December, the final assembly elections before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The other two states are Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.

Born on October 13, 1944, he is an Indian politician who leads the Bharatiya Janata Party and has been Governor of Assam since 2024. From 2014 to 2018, he served as Rajasthan’s Home Minister.
