The Moto G13 is a newcomer to the Rs 10,000 smartphone market, which was once one of the most popular because OEMs focused heavily on it to provide users with better smartphones. Due to the fact that many customers are willing to pay more for a high-quality phone, the focus has now shifted to higher segments. However, the companies continue to provide affordable phones of a high quality. The new Moto G13 features a display that refreshes at 90 Hz, a 5,000mAh battery, clean software, a premium design, and many other features. This seems like a good deal on paper, but how does it work in practice? Is the new Motorola 4G phone worth the money? Let’s investigate.

There are very few manufacturers of entry-level smartphones that provide a pre-installed Android user interface. Motorola has provided phones with a simple Android user interface for a long time. It continues to do so with its most recent model, the Moto G13, with a few exceptions. Because of its slick back, you must cover it with a case. Fortunately, there is one inside the box. Only when you hold it tightly or press hard on the back does it attract fingerprints.

The Lavender Blue color option that we received looks absolutely stunning. When light hits this variation, it looks like a ray. We really liked this, but if you prefer something more subtle, you might want to try the Matte Charcoal version. The Moto G13 has a Type-C port, a dedicated SIM slot, a bottom-firing speaker that is certified for Dolby Atmos, and a 3.5mm headphone jack for an entry-level device. The IP52 water-resistant certification should shield it from splashes of water and dust. It is lightweight at 183 grams due to the way the weight has been distributed. The IPS LCD display on the Moto G13 is 6.5 inches. Naturally, because it is an entry-level device, you cannot complain about its lack of an AMOLED display; however, if you desire one, you can always purchase the Moto G32, whose price has recently decreased. Given that Full HD+ displays have become commonplace in this price range, the display’s HD+ resolution is disappointing. As a result, you always want more clarity and sharpness. The G13’s LCD display produces vibrant colors despite being LCD. It is set to the Saturated profile by default. You can change it to Natural, which will change the tone to warm, which we don’t like.

On the front, Motorola has used a PANDA safety glass, which is typically used on entry-level devices. The touch sampling rate of up to 576 Hz is higher than that of other phones in this price range and the panel refreshes at 90 Hz. The display is surrounded by thin bezels on the Moto G13, with a larger one on the chin. A large punch hole for the front camera takes up a lot of space, adding to the problem.

It receives Widevine L1 certification, allowing you to watch movies and web shows of high quality on OTT platforms. YouTube is technically capable of running in 4K, but doing so will frighten the underpowered SoC and result in a choppy, stuttering mess. The screen can be set to 60Hz, 90Hz, or Auto mode, which changes the rate at which the screen refreshes depending on how much the app is used. With the refresh rate set at 90 Hz, the entire experience has been smooth up to this point.

Motorola hasn’t said how bright the device can be. However, during our testing in direct sunlight, the content was barely visible. We were pleased with the overall YouTube experience after watching a few videos. The device is said to have two stereo speakers, but since the earpiece on the front serves as the secondary speaker, it only uses the bottom-firing speakers. Performance and Software

The Moto G13 is powered by the Mediatek Helio G85 chipset, which is the most widely used entry-level SoC this year. It comes with 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage that can be expanded with a microSD card to a terabyte. We believe that the absence of virtual RAM jargon here is advantageous. We are content with the 4GB model, but introducing a 6GB model at a slightly higher price would have made perfect sense. The Moto G13 performed adequately during our utilization. While scrolling through the UI, we didn’t notice any stuttering; however, it has trouble loading apps like Instagram and Twitter. We tried split-screen multitasking to test its limits. While using YouTube with Chrome caused the processor to lose steam, the combination of Google Photos and YouTube worked surprisingly well.

In terms of the benchmark, the Moto G13 received a score of 211860, which was higher than that of the Infinix Note 12i (AnTuTu score: 208892), which makes use of the same CPU. In addition, it received a single-core score of 431 and a multi-core score of 1413 on Geekbench v6. Again, this was more expensive than the Infinix Note 12i. It has a front-facing 8-megapixel camera for taking selfies and making video calls. The camera app has modes like Portrait, Panorama, 50MP, Dual capture, Slow motion, Pro, Time-lapse, and Night vision. The interface is similar to that of Google Camera. The outcomes are as follows: For a phone this inexpensive, the Moto G13’s primary sensor takes excellent pictures. The images have a wide dynamic range and good details. The colors are well-created, and the shadows are well-balanced.

However, we discovered a flaw in the Night Vision mode that resulted in either photos with shallow exposure or soft, noisy images. We have informed Moto of this; It is hoped that this will soon be updated. The 8-megapixel sensor took good selfies in daylight or indoor lighting. They had a natural skin tone and had a lot of detail. In portrait mode, however, the edge detection could have been more effective. The Moto G13 had trouble spotting our TWS earbuds and hair in the following examples. The maximum frame rate for both the front and rear cameras was 1080p. We believe that Motorola should have provided an option to switch from 1080p to 720p, but it hasn’t. Overall, the video quality is decent, and the microphone quality is good.

Battery and Charging

Under the hood, the Moto G13 has a 5000mAh battery, which is about the same capacity as most phones these days. It should come as no surprise that the battery life lasts for a day and a half due to the low-resolution display. We used the device extensively, scrolling Instagram for more than an hour and watching videos on YouTube for three hours, resulting in eight and a half hours of screen time. On low usage, this number immediately increased to nine hours and forty minutes. Therefore, the Moto G13’s general usage battery life is nearly two days.

The Moto G13 needs to get better at charging. It supports charging at 10W, and charging from 0% to 100% took almost three hours. 18W charging is supported, and the Lava Blaze 2, which is less expensive than the Moto G13, supports it. A Type-C port is used for charging, which is a good thing.
