The Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments jointly administer a unified entrance exam for admission to MRIET and the other engineering schools in the state.

The Eligibility Criteria for Admission to B.Tech Courses are:

A pass in the Intermediate (10 + 2) exam administered by the board of intermediate education, Government of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto, with Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry as optional subjects, is the minimum requirement for admission to the first year of the B.Tech course.

• Engineering and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) scores are used to determine 70% of the seats, which is administered by the governments of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
• Management and NRI applicants are eligible for 30% of the available seats.
• In addition to the aforementioned, under the lateral entry system run by the governments of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, Diploma holders are accepted in the second year of B.Tech to a maximum of 20% of the intake depending on their performance in the Engineering Common Entrance Test (ECET).

The Eligibility Criteria for Admission to M.Tech Courses are:

M.Tech – Computer Science & Engineering: B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering with a current GATE score, or based on a JNTU exam score.

M.Tech – B.E./B.Tech in electronics and communications engineering, computer science and engineering, information technology, and electronic and instrumentation engineering with a valid GATE score, or base on a JNTU test result, are the prerequisites for wireless and mobile communication.

M.Tech – Embedded Systems: B.E. or B.Tech. with a valid GATE score or base on a JNTU exam score in Electronics and Communications Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering.

M.Tech – Power Electronics and Electric Drives: B.E. or B.Tech. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering with a valid GATE score, or base on a passing result on the JNTU exam.
