About JEE Main

JEE Main, also known as the Joint Entrance Examination Main, is a national level entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission into various undergraduate engineering and architecture courses in India. The exam is conducted twice a year, in January and April, and is open to candidates who have completed their 10+2 education or are currently in their final year of schooling. JEE Main is an important step for students aspiring to pursue a career in engineering or architecture, and it is important that they understand the eligibility criteria, syllabus, exam pattern, and other relevant details before appearing for the exam.

Under the Societies Registration Act (1860), the Ministry of Education of the Government of India (GoI) established the National Testing Agency (NTA) as an independent, autonomous, and self-sustained premier testing organization for the purpose of developing and administering research-based valid, reliable, efficient, transparent, fair, and international level assessments to assess the competency of candidates for admission to premier higher education institutions. The agency’s mission is to improve equity and quality in education. A system that encourages teaching (by teachers), learning (by students), and assessment (by parents and institutions) has been developed by the NTA. The NTA has a strong belief in the security, efficiency, equity, and quality of assessments. In order to put these values into practice, NTA keeps in touch with its stakeholders, namely experts, partner institutions, students, parents, and teachers.
