With up to 32GB of RAM, a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD, and an Intel Core i9-12900H processor, the Infinix Zero Book Ultra is powerful. The laptop has a different approach to design and starts at Rs 89,999. Because of this, it is one of the most affordable laptops with an Intel i9 processor. Design and Build Quality

There is no denying that the Infinix Zero Book Ultra has an exquisite appearance. At first glance, it resembles the Widmanstätten figure, a marble slab with crisscross patterns on top. lines that form when a meteorite’s cross-section is etched with weak acid. On the lid, a glowing “Zero” logo completes the look. While it looks generally great in the plan office, it’s difficult to disregard that the MacBook Expert vigorously motivated this. The most obvious flaws are the keyboard and speaker layouts, which is fine as long as they are useful, as they are in this case. The entire chassis has a premium feel, and the all-metal body has some weight. However, because droplets leave a nasty residue, we advise against drinking tea anywhere near it if you are as clumsy as we are.

For optimal airflow, the laptop has vents between the lid and hinge. In addition, there is a LED array in the same location that illuminates when performance mode is enabled; more on that later. We did not, however, like the hinge because the lid was a little heavy. The laptop did not go to sleep because the lid kept falling even when it was held at a steep angle. A number of vents on the laptop’s underside have the brand and model number etched below them. A keyboard with backlighting is visible upon opening the lid. We didn’t like how crowded it was because the quad-speaker setup takes up most of the space here.

The keys on the Infinix Zero Book Ultra feel a little mushy after using mechanical keyboards for most of our lives. A microSD card slot, a headphone jack, a USB 3.0 port, and a switch to switch between performance modes are all held in place on the right side. Except for the fact that it lacks an Ethernet port and has an out-of-date HDMI port, which prevents it from connecting to a high-resolution external display, it does almost everything right when it comes to ports.

A Full HD webcam sits atop the display. It has a bright and low-noise output, but it doesn’t have a privacy shutter. You get features like Face Tracking, Beauty mode, and Background Removal to make video calls and meetings better. We enjoyed testing the face tracking feature, which basically works like Center Stage by Apple, and all of these settings work well. Strangely, Windows does not recognize the webcam when using face unlock.

Display and Performance

It’s fun to use the 15.6-inch IPS display with Full HD. It has a good old aspect ratio of 16:9 and a brightness peak of 400 nits, making it suitable for indoor and outdoor viewing. It has 100% sRGB coverage and has been calibrated to avoid oversaturation and vibrancy. The screen’s bezels are not particularly intrusive. The presentation is incredible in general, then again, actually we tracked down its polished completion altogether too intelligent under brutal daylight, yet that is us criticizing. It was enjoyable to watch shows like Manifest, The Last of Us, and That 90s Show because the darker moments were also well portrayed. It is a 14-core processor with eight Efficiency-cores (E-cores) for background-running lighter tasks and six Performance-cores (P-cores) for heavier tasks. Infinix chose an integrated GPU rather than a dedicated one for the Zero Book Ultra because it is not a gaming laptop. Consequently, it includes Intel 96EU Iris Xe Graphics. Windows 11 Home is supported by the Zero Book Ultra. Sadly, unlike Asus’ Armoury-Crate, Infinix does not include any software of its own; instead, it comes pre-loaded with Android App Store and Infinix PC Connection. Sadly, the first one does not appear to be responding to our team.

Throughout our day-to-day use, the laptop performed flawlessly without any glitches. The Zero Book Ultra performed admirably even when we were multitasking with multiple apps, even though we spent the majority of our time there writing reviews and watching a lot of television shows. The laptop runs cool for the most part, but it is not silent at all because full-speed fans can easily be heard.

The Infinix Zero Book Ultra includes a physical switch for selecting between performance modes, as previously mentioned. It has an Economy mode, a Balanced mode, and an Overboost mode, the latter of which pushes the processor and makes it possible for it to produce 54W of power. The laptop was put through its paces in Overboost and Balanced modes. Under the hinge, a small red LED array can be enabled by activating the overboost mode. In both the balanced multi-core and single-core Cinebench R23 tests, the results were 11924 and 1721 points, respectively. Overboost mode, the same test gave us a multi-core score of 13370 points, while the single-core score was the same.

In the single-core and multi-core score tests of Geekbench 6, the laptop received scores of 2255 and 12004, respectively. In the balanced mode, PCMark10 achieved a total score of 5,997 points, while the overboost mode may have scored 6,243 points more. For some strange reason, the first two times CrystalDiskMark was run on the laptop produced slow sequential write and read speeds. With a sequential read speed of 5358 MB/s and a sequential write speed of 3920 MB/s on the third attempt, it performed well.

We also put the Zero Book Ultra through a rendering test on Adobe Premiere Pro in addition to the synthetic benchmarks. We paired a number of short clips with 1080p footage and audio from the camera. There were no graphics at all in this sequence. Overboost mode took one second less to export the 5-minute footage than balanced mode did in 1 minute and 24 seconds. While scrolling through the timeline, there were no issues. With such a powerful processor, we had to give gaming a shot despite the fact that it is not its forte.

We utilized Counter-Strike: All settings for the Global Offensive are set to High. For us, it was almost unplayable. The majority of the time, the game ran at a bleak 29 frames per second, with a few brief spikes to 33. It could run at 50 frames per second by lowering the graphics to medium. On such a device, we anticipated a decade-old game to run at slightly higher frame rates. We then started Valorant with that disappointment.

Surprisingly, the game ran smoothly at 150 frames per second on low settings, as smooth as a 60Hz display could be. You can still play games on the laptop if you lower the graphics slider to its lowest setting. Despite its shape, the laptop did not experience any heat issues. Infinix has integrated ICE Storm 2.0, a cooling system with two 65mm-thick, large shark fin-shaped fans. Despite its thin fan structure, the laptop does not operate silently when performing tasks, as previously mentioned.

Battery and Charging

The Infinix Zero Book Ultra comes with a 96W Hyper Charge Adapter and a 70Wh battery. Under normal circumstances, the battery performed well for us. It might be able to display for about 5 hours and 20 minutes. We mostly used Google Chrome to read articles and occasionally used Netflix and Disney+ Hotstar.

It was pretty obvious that the battery was used more in overboost mode. If you are out and about without a charger, it would be ideal to use the laptop in Economy mode. The cables feel cheap, and the 96W charger that comes with it is not very high-end. The laptop takes more than two hours to fully charge from zero.

Conclusion

Infinix has nailed the Zero Book Ultra’s pricing thanks to the extensive on-paper specifications. Although it immediately takes cues from a Macbook Pro, the laptop is well-built and does not make a complete joke of itself. For everyday use and content consumption, the 15.6-inch display produces good colors. The powerful Intel Core i9-12900H can easily handle demanding tasks and multitasking, despite its poor gaming performance. Light videos can also be edited in Adobe Premiere Pro. In addition, the laptop has a strong and dependable battery. However, charging it with the included barrel-style charger may be a little sluggish. Although the 1080p webcam lacks an RJ45 port, it is great for video conferences.

Despite this, at Rs 89,999, the Infinix Zero Book Ultra is a laptop that is a good deal. The laptop is frequently out of stock on Flipkart, which has made it difficult to obtain due to its high price. If you want a laptop specifically designed for productivity and for running numbers through multiple Excel sheets, this one might end up in your shopping cart; however, if you’re willing to spend a little bit more money, you could get the best model.
