As 2021 comes to an end, the demand for portable computers continues to grow. Interest is growing everywhere as more people than ever buy laptops to work from home. And while laptops like the Lenovo Legion 7 and MSI GS66 Stealth are top choices for gamers around the world, the demand for laptops to work and play on a budget is much greater. For a student looking for a laptop for everyday use, or a worker looking for a high-performance machine, one of the devices on offer is his Infinix In book X1 laptop series. Packing an impressive array of specs into a compact form factor, his Inbook X1 Pro looks great on paper. But how does it work in real life? Well, I’m here to answer that. I’ve had an Infinix IN Book X1 Pro laptop for about a week now and here are my thoughts.
Design
Like many other companies, Infinix has chosen a sleek and stylish design philosophy. The construction of the Infinix IN Book X1 Pro consists of what the company calls “aircraft-grade aluminum.” And in tribute to Infinix, you can see and feel its charm. The top of the laptop’s exterior is adorned with a distinctive two-tone metallic finish. Infinix also included a small opening in the lid through which the notebook can be easily opened. However, the hinge is a little stiff, so it is impossible to open the lid with one hand. The general build quality of this laptop is also pretty solid. We encountered minimal deflection when twisting and bending the various parts.
Display
The INBook X1 Pro features a 14-inch Full HD IPS display that supports 1920 x 1080p resolution, 60Hz refresh rate and 300 nit brightness rating. This IPS panel features a 100% sRGB color gamut. In my laptop display test, I watched Netflix movies and TV shows while writing and editing the Beebom website. The display quality itself is decent for what it offers, but there are some draw backs. Watching detailed, richly colored movies and shows like Polar and Our Planet seems like a good experience.
I didn’t notice any loss of detail on the IN Book X1’s display, but the colors on the screen didn’t look as expected. Don’t get me wrong, the colors looked pretty good, but the screen didn’t have the punch I was looking for. That said, the IPS display itself is impressive with good viewing angles.
Performance
The biggest and perhaps most important factor we look for in a machine is overall performance. A good laptop should deliver great performance without burning a hole in your pocket. I’m happy to report that the Infinix IN Book X1 Pro does just that. The X1 Pro test machine with me is equipped with 10th Gen Intel i7-1065G7 quad core and 8 thread CPU with a maximum clock speed of 3.90 GHz. Therefore, the CPU also features Intel Iris Plus Graphics, which we will discuss later. The laptop has 16 GB of LPDDR4X RAM with a frequency of 3200 MHz. On the storage side, we have a 512GB NVME PCIE 3.0 SSD with read/write speeds of 2,400MB/s and 1,900MB/s respectively. The hardware is certainly impressive, but we tested it in everyday life to see how it performs.
