HP Victus 15 Review

Gaming laptops on a budget are in a tough spot. Stagnation has resulted from the absence of new discrete graphics for the entry-level from AMD, Nvidia, or Intel, which has repeatedly delayed the release of its new Arc graphics products. The HP Victus 15 excels in this area because price is frequently the most important characteristic of a budget gaming laptop. For a reasonable price, this laptop provides dependable processor performance. However, the display is too dim for our liking and the build quality leaves little to be desired. Having said that, the HP Victus 15 might be something you should think about if you really need to save money.

Design and Build Quality

HP Victus 15 would be the new name for subtlety if it had a different name. We are accustomed to seeing gaming laptops with a wide range of gaming-related accessories, such as translucent back panels and RGB-filled keyboards. The HP Victus 15 is exactly the opposite of everything else. In this review, we have a variant that looks like stone black and has the color Mica Silver. Plastic of a respectable quality makes up the chassis. Despite the fact that it lacks a premium feel, the price had to be kept low. A tremendous ‘V’ logo on the cover and a Victus marking on the pivot offer the PC’s make. We managed to scratch the matte-like texture of the lid when we placed it inside a bag with the charger. But nothing particularly troubling.

A characteristic of the Victus series‘ design language is the laptop’s slight gaps between the lid and the chassis. For maximum airflow, air vents have been positioned just below the hinge. The laptop’s backside has more exhaust, but the plastic used here feels a little thin. It is also possible to open the laptop’s lid with just one finger. Another indication of the materials used is the laptop’s bouncy and slightly flexible top.

Due to its smaller size, it has a full-size keyboard that feels a little crammed in. It took us a few days to get used to it completely. By that time, we were consistently pressing the wrong keys when typing. We found the key travel to be adequate despite the keyboard’s slight flex. Typing on the HP Victus 15 was enjoyable once we got the hang of it. The keyboard has backlighting, but only white LEDs flash. This may disappoint some gamers due to the absence of RGB zones. We were happy, though, with the keyboard’s lighting because sometimes too much bling can be a little distracting. Additionally, this is consistent with HP’s overall approach to the Victus 15: subtlety. The lights’ brightness can be changed according to your preferences.

Additionally, it provides access to numerous media controls, including the mute button. Along with the power on key, the keyboard also has an individual button labeled “Omen Gaming Hub.” Scrolling through webpages was quick and responsive thanks to the ample trackpad. The click does not feel fragile and has adequate travel and feedback. The HP Victus 15’s bottom edges are sharper than usual, which made our forearms unhappy in the beginning.

It are consistently on the heavier side to Game PCs. The HP Victus 15 follows suit. The laptop is 23.5 mm thick and weighs 2.29 kg. We tried to carry it with the charger in our backpack, but it was too heavy for our weak backs. However, it is nowhere near as heavy as the Asus Strix Scar 17 SE. There are a fair number of ports on the HP Victus 15. The power input, a USB Type-A port, an SD card slot, and a 3.5mm headphone jack are held in place on the laptop’s left side. The remainder of the group is situated on the laptop’s right side. It has a USB Type-C port that supports DisplayPort and HP Sleep and Charge, an RJ45 port for ethernet, a full-size HDMI 2.1 port, and a USB Type-A port.
