The Mustang is powered by an incredibly powerful 4951 cc engine that delivers an impressive 401 BHP of power and an astonishing peak torque of 515 Nm. It achieves a mileage of approximately 11.8 kilometers per liter, which is considered decent for its class. Included in the Ford Mustang are Ford SYNC2 with voice control, adaptive cruise control, reversing camera, dual zone HVAC system, and an 8-inch touch screen infotainment unit. Additionally, the car also boasts cooled/heated seats.

Engine & Transmission

During our test track evaluation, a Mustang GT equipped with the performance exhaust system accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds, while the EcoBoost variant achieved this speed in approximately 4.5 seconds. Furthermore, the MagnaRide dampers effectively absorb uneven surfaces and road imperfections without causing any discomfort in the cabin.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

According to the EPA, the city fuel efficiency of the four-cylinder Mustang is estimated to be 22 mpg, while its highway fuel efficiency is estimated to be 33 mpg. Opting for the Performance Package may slightly decrease the fuel economy, with city mileage dropping to 21 mpg and highway mileage decreasing to 29 mpg. The previous generation Mustang’s V-8 engine had an EPA rating of 15 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway when equipped with an automatic transmission, which remains unchanged in the current model.

The Mustang GT, when paired with a six-speed manual transmission, achieves a fuel efficiency of 14 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. In contrast, the 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse consumes more gasoline, delivering only 14 mpg in urban areas and 22 mpg on highways. On our test route with a speed of 75 mph, a GT model equipped with a six-speed manual achieved a fuel efficiency of 24 mpg.

Interior, Comfort & Cargo

The design of the 2024 Mustang, according to Ford, is inspired by a “fighter-jet” and every detail has been meticulously crafted. However, despite this bold description, the car is actually quite comfortable and the seats provide ample support.

In terms of performance, it remains to be seen whether the Mustang will reach supersonic speeds, but it does feature a significant upgrade in the form of a 12.4-inch instrument cluster compared to its predecessor. This display can be customized to suit the preferences of patriotic individuals with various color options, gauges, and even a “calm” screen that only displays essential information. The ambient lighting and driver’s display also adjust depending on the selected drive mode.

The base model comes with cloth seats and optional micro-suede vinyl inserts, while the Premium version includes stitched details throughout the interior.
