The latest update is that Loki head writer Michael Waldron has been confirmed to be writing he screenplay for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. At the moment, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is between directors. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ Destin Daniel Cretton, who was previously attached to direct, left the film in order to focus on other projects. Shang-Chi has been consistently praised as one of the best films of Marvel’s Phase 4 due to its strong character moments and impeccable action set pieces, so Cretton’s involvement was a highlight for many fans. The director is still set to helm Shang-Chi 2, which is expected to be released prior to The Kang Dynasty in Phase 6, and the Wonder Man series starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania writer Jeff Loveness was previously announced to be penning the script, but there are reports that Loveness may have left the project as well.

In the most recent report by The Hollywood Columnist, it is now confirmed that the title for Avengers Kang Dynasty is going to be changed in order to remove the name of Jonathan Major’s character. Prior in 2023, following Jonathan Major’s arrest and guilty verdict under the charge of domestic violence, he was fired from the MCU and we will no longer see him show upon screen. Now, if Avengers 5 is no longer called Kang Dynasty, this means that the lore of Kang is now over in the MCU with his last appearance in the Loki series.
