About University
By amending subsection 2 of section 1 of the Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences (Amendment) Act, 2022, the Government of Andhra Pradesh renamed the university “Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences” to “Dr. YSR University of Health Sciences.” The Act No. 19 of 2022 was made public in the Andhra Pradesh Gazette No. 19 Part-IV-B, dated October 28, 2022.
By using the authority granted by subsection (2) of Section 1 of the Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences (Amendment) Act, 2022 (Act No. 19 of 2022), the Andhra Pradesh government has mandated that the aforementioned name change take effect as of October 31, 2022.
Padmashree Dr. Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, a renowned personality and former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, is credited with creating the university. Inauguration day was in 1986. The late Dr. N.T. Ramao served as the university’s first chancellor. Currently, the Chancellor is the Honorable Governor of Andhra Pradesh.
