It’s pretty much the same game you know and love, and probably the best real-time strategy game I’ve ever played on a console. This is mainly because the controls are optimized for consoles. Other than that, it’s not as good as a keyboard and mouse combination. That said, if you’re looking to drown out any nostalgia or RTS itch, Age of Empires 2: The Definitive Edition of Xbox is a great option. Especially if you want to slow down and enjoy the game. However, if you want to play multiplayer or higher difficulty, the limitations of your controller become apparent. For such gamers, the option to use keyboard and mouse is very convenient.
