About WTC
When Team India was determined to be two overs short of the target after time allowances were taken into account, ICC Elite Panel Match Referee David Boon assessed the sentence. There was no need for a formal hearing because India captain Jaspreet Burma pleaded confessed to the offence and agreed to the suggested punishment. Team India hoped to defend the total after setting a target of 378 for England to chase in the fourth innings since it would be the biggest run chase in English history, but the Ben Stokes-led team made history. The Indians were astonished by Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow’s unbeaten beautiful hundreds in the fourth innings and their 269-run partnership for the fourth wicket as the hosts lost the match.

How will India enter WTC Final?
Team India will now need to win every test they have left in order to qualify for the World Test Championships 2021–2025 Final, and they will need the teams ahead of them in the standings, i.e. In the remaining bilateral series that they play, Pakistan, South Africa, and Australia all suffer defeats in a number of their games. The fact that Team India will play two additional Test series as part of the WTC Cycle is a plus.
The WTC 2019–21 runners-up will host Australia for four tests and play two tests there. To increase their percentage points, the Rohit Sharma-led team must win all six of their remaining contests. If the rain gods don’t play trickster, Rohit Sharm and his band should perform well there given their track record in Bangladesh.
