Verona’s Romeo & Juliet Movie- Briarcliff Entertainment has acquired North American distribution rights for Verona’s Romeo & Juliet, a new musical series, in collaboration with Hero Entertainment and Rainmaker Films. The first of the films, a modern recreation of one of the most beloved love stories of all time, will be released on Valentine’s Day 2025, marking one of Briarcliff’s most successful releases to date.

Set in 1301 at the conclusion of Mediaeval periods, Verona’s Romeo & Juliet finds our most famous star-crossed lovers changing the tides on the history Shakespeare founded his own narrative on, as they disclose the truth about the future of the Empire.But the biggest difference in this most popular of tales is leaving the poetry of Iambic Pentameter behind to recount.

Verona’s Romeo & Juliet is set for a nationwide premiere on February 14, 2025. There are two more films coming out on the same day: Captain America: Brave New World and Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy. WME Independent negotiated the agreement on behalf of Hero Entertainment, while Ortenberg, Jessica Rose, and Danielle Goodman Strong represented Briarcliff Entertainment.

Story

Set in 1301 at the conclusion of Mediaeval periods, VERONA’S ROMEO & JULIET Franchise finds our most famous Star-Crossed lovers reversing the tide on the history on which Shakespeare founded his own drama, revealing the truth about the Empire’s very destiny. The most surprising and powerful twist in this beloved tale is the use of original Pop Music to bring the themes of Iambic Pentameter directly to the hearts of our characters.The greatest love story of all time, set to the best music of our time.

The Plot

The film stars Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect), Rupert Everett (My Policeman), Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter), Derek Jacobi (Cinderella), Ferdia Walsh-Peelo (CODA), Rupert Graves (Sherlock), Dan Fogler (Fantastic Beasts), Nicholas Podany (Hello Tomorrow!) and Grammy winner Tayla Parx. The film was written and directed by Timothy Scott Bogart, with a soundtrack co-created and managed by Grammy-winning artist Evan Kidd Bogart.
