Story Behind Tulsi Vivah

Jalandhar, a powerful demon from ancient times, once existed. He was married to Vrinda, one of Lord Vishnu’s most ardent devotees. Because of Vrinda’s virtuous religion, Jalandhar became unbeatable. Jalandhar became proud of his invincibility after defeating Lord Shiva in a battle, and he began harassing the celestial damsels (Apsaras) of heaven. Jalandhar’s act frightened Lord Indra as well. The terror of Jalandhar terrified almost all of the gods. With this problem, all the gods went to Lord Vishnu and begged him to stop the horrors of Jalandhar.

Based on the deities’ request, Lord Vishnu assumed the form of Jalandhar and, through treachery, destroyed Vrinda’s husbandry religion. Jalandhara’s power diminishe as soon as Vrinda’s virtuous dharma was destroyed, and he was killed in battle. When Vrinda discovered that Lord Vishnu had fraudulently corrupted her husband’s religion, she cursed Lord Vishnu to become a stone. The deities were all upset when Lord Vishnu transformed into a stone. They all begged Vrinda to remove the curse. Vrinda withdrew her curse in mercy. Lord Vishnu was ashamed of his actions, so in order to keep Vrinda’s curse alive, he manifested himself in the form of a stone, which became known as Shaligram.

According to mythological beliefs, Shri Hari Vishnu enters yoga Nidra on the day of Devshayani Ekadashi of Ashadha Shukla Paksha and awakens on the day of Devuthani Ekadashi of Kartik month. Following Lord Vishnu’s awakening, it is customary to marry Tulsi ji to his Shilagram avatar. Fasting on this day is also thought to produce the same results as performing a thousand Ashwamedha Yagyas. • After that, mix Gangajal with Tulsi ji and Shaligram.
• Keep a vase of water near the outpost and a ghee lamp lit.
• After that, apply a Roli and sandalwood tilak to Tulsi and Shaligram.
• Make a sugarcane pavilion in a Tulsi plant pot.
• Apply vermilion to Tulsi plant leaves, offer red chunri, and make up items such as vermilion, bangles, bindis, and so on.
• Keep the Shaligram in your hand and circumambulate Tulsi ji before performing aarti.
