TET Eligibility Criteria 2025
The TET eligibility criteria vary from state to state but may include having an education level above high school or equivalent with a minimum score. You will have certain qualifications that you need in order to be able to apply for a TET. Those include:
- Obtained a bachelor’s degree from any recognized university or institute
- Secured a minimum of 45% marks.

Education Qualification
Qualification for Paper-I –
- B.Ed in Nursery Teacher Training of 2 years BTC in Urdu and BTC/ Diploma in Teacher Education / Diploma in Elementary Education from a Recognized Teacher Training Institute / DIET, if you want to apply for Secondary Grade Teacher for classes I to V.
- Candidates who are appearing for D.E.Ed/B.Ed degree is also eligible to apply.
- Candidates who are visually impaired are not eligible to write Paper I.
Qualification for Paper-II –
- B.A. /B.Sc. / B.Lit. degree with State language, English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, History and Geography as major subjects from a recognized university
- under 10+2+3 pattern and B.Ed from a recognized university if you are applying for the graduate teacher.
- Candidates with B.Lit.the degree should possess either B.Ed. or D.T.Ed. or TPT.

TET Exam consists of two papers –
- Paper 1 – For candidates planning to teach the students of classes I – V
- Paper 2 – For candidates planning to teach the students of classes VI-VIII.
All questions asked in TET exam 2025 will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), each carrying one mark, with four options. There is no negative marking. The examining body will only be following the TET syllabus for 2025 (below).

TET Exam 2025 Selection Process
The TET exam is a test that every student needs to take in order to apply for admission.
