The new trailer for the upcoming Star Wars Andor series has been released, and it’s an action-packed look at the Disney Plus show. The trailer also announced the 21 Sep. release date of the 3 episode premiere.
The new movie series stars Diego Luna as Cassian Andor and is a prequel to the 2016 movie “Rogue One.” Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgard, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller and Fiona Shaw also star, and Forest Whitaker reprises his part of Saw Gerrera. Luna is executive producing the movie series, which was created by “Rogue One” co-writer Tony Gilroy, who also wrote 5 episodes of the thriller series, including the pilot.
Luna extended the new trailer during a event on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” where he spoke about the scope of the new movie series.“ It’s little unique, because we know what Cassian is capable of, but we’re going to meet him when he doesn’t know he’s capable of that,” Luna said. We are going to touch him when life is very solid, it’s a very dark and entertaining life because it’s just a orderly guy that suddenly has to become part of something bigger, has to become part of a community that rises. It’s the starting of the origins of a revolution, and it’s a beautiful story because it reminds us what we are capable of, what we are all able of. We got our 1st look at Andor during Disney’s Investors Day awarding in Dec 2020. The short teaser gave a behind-the-scenes look at the series’ pre-production and announced the series’ lead cast. It wasn’t until May 2024 that we finally got our 1st full-length trailer. The short trailer teased a few of the locations that Andor and his Rebel teammates will be going, without giving away too many plot details or spoiling who the show’s big bad will be.

Story Line
Andor is a prequel to Rogue One and set 5 years before the titular’s fateful encounter with Jyn Erso. The 1st season will explore Andor’s 1st year as a person of the Rebellion, charting how he goes from a rookie to a hardened freedom fighter.
Interviews with the series’ writers have tolled an awful lot about the structure of the movie series. The 1st few episodes will focus on Andor’s backstory showing how his homeworld was destroyed by the Galactic Empire and how the future rebel became a outcast on an alien world that moderate his hatred of tyrants.
