She attended the Brearley School and the Chapin School in New York prior to enrolling at the Ethel Walker School. Sigourney Weaver made her acting debut in the 1977 film Annie Hall, opposite Woody Allen, in a supporting role. She was noticed, even though her involvement was brief. She was cast in the breakout Alien role of Ellen Ripley in 1979. The film was a major achievement, and Weaver rehashed her job in three following continuations. Alongside Mel Gibson, she made an appearance in The Year of Living Dangerously and the Alien Trilogy. She also made an appearance in Ghostbusters and its follow-up, Ghostbusters II. In 1988, she made appearances in films like Working Girl and Gorillas in the Mist. For these two films, Weaver won the Golden Globe for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress, respectively.
