Know about SBI Zero Balance Saving Account

  • SBI BSBD account can be opened by all persons who have valid Know Your Customer (KYC) documents.
  • SBI Zero Balance Savings Account can be opened singly, jointly, or with either one or the survivor.
  • The minimum balance to be maintained in SBI zero balance account is nil.
  • SBI offers the same interest rate on zero balance accounts as on regular savings bank accounts. The bank offers an interest rate of 3.25% p.a. on deposits below ₹1 lakh.
  • Checkbook facility is not available in SBI zero balance savings account.
  • The account holder cannot have any other savings bank account if he/she has a basic savings bank deposit account.
  • If the customer already has a savings bank account, he/she has to close it within 30 days of opening the original savings bank deposit account.
  • SBI Zero Balance Savings Account allows a maximum of 4 cash withdrawals in a month, which includes ATM withdrawals from own and other bank’s ATMs.
  • For the SBI zero balance savings account, the basic RuPay ATM-cum-debit card will be issued free of cost and no annual maintenance charges will be levied.
  • SBI does not charge any charges on the activation of dormant accounts. There is also no account closure fee.

  • On the menu, go to the Customer Information section.
  • Enter all the mandatory details to register for the account.

  • Fill Part A with all the required details, save the form.
  • The system will send you a short Customer Reference Number (SCRN).
  • Be sure to keep or save the number used to link the customer to the account opening form.
  • Next, fill out the Account Information section.
  • Enter the mandatory details, and the portal will generate the Small Account Reference Number (SARN).

  • Applicants should download the YONO app on the device.
  • After installation click on the “New SBI” option.
  • Go ahead and get the option to request to open an Insta Savings Account/SBI Digital Savings Account.
  • Select Insta Savings Account and hit the “Apply Now” tab.
  • Accept the terms and conditions on the page.
  • Enter your mobile number. You can choose not to use the Aadhaar mobile number.
  • SBI bank will notify you about the number later.
  • An OTP is sent to verify the mobile number.
  • Now create a password for the YONO app.
  • Now enter the FATCA declaration, this is information about your citizenship.
  • Next, enter the Aadhaar number, and key in the OTP received.
  • Go ahead and enter personal details, address, and PAN number.
  • The system will show the Aadhaar photo click to proceed and click on “Next”.
  • Enter educational qualification and marital status.
