Sania Mirza Wiki: Tennis star Sania Mirza has announced her retirement from professional tennis after the current 2022 season as her body wears out. The announcement comes after her first-round elimination at the Australian Open in women’s doubles on 19 January 2022. However, she clarified that her decision was not caused by her first-round loss. Sania Mirza was born on 15th November 1986 in Mumbai to Imran Mirza and Naseema. After her birth, her family moved to Hyderabad where she and her sister Anam Mirza were raised. Anam is married to cricketer Mohammad Azaddin, the son of former cricket her captain Mohammad Azardin. Mirza graduated from Nasr School and St. Mary’s College, Hyderabad. He is an honorary doctor of Dr. M.G.R. Institute of Education, Chennai.

A former number one in doubles, she has won her six major championships, including three times in women’s doubles and three times in mixed doubles. According to the Women’s Tennis Association, she was No. 1 in her rankings in Indian singles from 2003 until she retired from singles in 2013. Sania Mirza began playing tennis at the age of 6.
