Gayakwad was a late bloomer, whereas the majority of professional cricketers begin their careers at an early age. She began playing cricket when she was 18 years old. Rajeshwari had previously expressed an interest in discus throw and javelin. But once she started taking an interest in cricket, there was no going back. She was selected to play for the Karanataka team after her talent was quickly recognized by India’s domestic teams. Rajeshwari also went to school while she was playing cricket because she didn’t think cricket was a good career choice for women in India. Rajeshwari Gayakwad received her first call-up to the Indian national team in 2014 thanks to her good results in domestic competitions.
