About NJILOMD
On April 1, 1976, the India Centre of JALMA was officially handed over to the government, thereby establishing this institute. of India, and then the Indian Council for Medical Research. In 1976, it was known as the Central JALMA Institute for Leprosy, but in 2005, it changed its name to the “National Jalma Institute of Leprosy and other Mycobacterial Diseases” to better reflect the scope of its research. This Institute was first established in 1966 under the name “India Centre of JALMA” and was managed by the Japanese Leprosy Mission for Asia (JALMA), a Tokyo-based nonprofit. One of the finest examples of international human connections and mutual compassion is this institute.
