Mohanlal Wiki: Born on May 21, 1960, Mohanlal Viswanathan is an Indian theater actor, producer, and performer whose work focuses primarily on Malayalam cinema. Over the course of four decades, he has appeared in more than 300 films. He has appeared in other regional Indian films in addition to Malayalam.
Mohanlal Viswanathan was born in Elanthoor, a village in the Pathanamthitta District of Kerala, on May 21, 1960. He is Santhakumari and Viswanathan Nair’s youngest child. Viswanathan Nair was a lawyer for the Kerala government and a former bureaucrat. Pyarelal, his older brother, passed away in 2000 while participating in a military exercise. In his paternal home in Thiruvananthapuram, Mohanlal spent his childhood in Mudavanmugal. He attended the Government Model High School Thiruvananthapuram and graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from Mahatma Gandhi College in Thiruvananthapuram. In the play Computer Boy, in which he played a ninety-year-old man, Mohanlal played a sixth-grade student.

He has won five National Film Awards, including: two Best Actor Awards, a Special Jury Award for his performance, a Jury Special Mention Award, the Best Feature Award (as a Producer Award), nine Kerala State Film Awards, the Filmfare Awards South Award, and numerous other awards. For his contribution to Indian cinema, the Indian government presented him with the Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civilian award in 2019, and the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian award in 2001. He became the first and only actor to receive the honorary rank of lieutenant-colonel in the Indian territorial army in 2009, making him the first and only actor. In 2010, he was awarded an honorary doctorate from Calicut University, and in 2018, he was awarded one from Sanskrit Sree Sankaracharya University.
He and his family live in Thevara, Kerala, in the state of Kochi. On April 28, 1988, he tied the knot with Suchitra, the daughter of Tamil film producer K.Balaji. Pranav Mohanlal and Vismaya Mohanlal are their two children. In an interview, he then mentioned that Suchitra wanted to marry him and sent him cards. At first, their horoscopes were off, but it was later discovered that the astrologer had made a mistake.

Career
As Narendran, Mohanlal made his acting debut in the romantic 1980 Malayalam film Manjil Virinja Pookkal. He made his debut in Tamil in the 1997 film Iruvar, in which he starred alongside Prakash Raj in the lead roles. In the 2002 film Business, he got his first leading role in Hindi. He made his Telugu debut in the 2016 film Manamantha. He co-produced his first film, titled Adiyozhukkukal, in 1984 with Casino Films.
Mohanlal gave up singing for the first time in 1985 in order to record the song “Sindooramegham Shringaarakaavyam” from the Raghu Kumar-directed film “Onnanam Kunnil Oradi Kunnil.” Thakilu Pukilu (2001), Ithaloornnu Veena (2005), and Attumanal Payayil (2012), to name a few, were among his most successful songs. Together with Meera Nandan, he hosted the 2017 talk show Lal Salam.
