Along with this, essential commodities will be made available to the ration cardholders. Kerala government is going to convert the ration card into a smart card by changing the size of the ATM card. These ration cards can also be used as identity cards. The first phase of distribution of this ration card will start from 1st November 2021.
The owner’s photo, barcode, and QR code will appear on the front side of the ration card and the other side of the ration card will have information regarding monthly. Income, number of ration shops, and whether the house has an electrified connection, LPG gas connection, etc. Citizens will have to pay Rs 25 as a service fee to convert their ration card into a smart card. Priority category will be exempted from service charges. All cardholders can apply online for this card directly at Taluk Supply Office or through the portal of the Civil Supplies Department. If any Taluk Supply Officer or City Ration Officer approves the card then it will reach the applicant’s login page.

Through Akshaya Centers
- Visit your nearest Akshaya Kendra.
- Ask for the application form.
- Submit relevant documents

- Your card will be sent to you.

- Click on the New Ration Card option
- The new webpage will be displayed on your screen.
- Fill all the information asked in the ration card application form carefully.
- Click submit
- Click on the activation link sent to you.
- Login to the website using Login ID and Password.
- In case of a new application, three options will appear on the screen
