The British Council will no longer provide IELTS test dates to candidates in India. For either the computer-based or paper-based IELTS, candidates can only schedule exam dates through IDP.

IELTS Exam Registration

Exam Pattern and Syllabus of International English Language Testing System
The IELTS exam has four sections: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Reading, Writing, and Listening on the IELTS are all taken on the same day. Speaking on the IELTS can be taken up to a week before or after other tests.
International English Language Testing System Speaking
For the IELTS Speaking test, applicants are tested in three recorded segments. Up-and-comers will be allowed 11-14 minutes to finish the IELTS talking area.

IELTS Listening
Candidates must respond to a series of questions in this section by listening to four recordings of native English speakers. The IELTS Listening section will be completed by candidates in 30 minutes.
IELTS Writing
The writing requirements for IELTS Academic and General Training candidates are different. Two writing tasks must be completed in 60 minutes for the IELTS writing section. International English Language Testing System Reading
Candidates receive two types of IELTS Reading questions for IELTS Academic and General Training. In both test formats, candidates must answer 40 questions in 60 minutes.
