The IBPS held the PO Prelims Exam 2025 on October 19th and 20th, 2025. Thousands of hopefuls from all over India took part in this exam, each hoping to land a job as a Probationary Officer (PO) at one of the country’s public sector banks. The preliminary exam is the first phase in a multi-stage recruitment process; only those who pass this level will advance to the final exam, which is set for November 30th, 2025. IBPS PO Prelims Result 2025 is scheduled to be issued in the second or third week of November 2025.

Prelims Exam Structure

The IBPS PO Prelims exam is the first stage of the selection process, designed to filter out candidates for the Mains exam. It is an online objective-type test comprising three sections:

  • English Language
  • Quantitative Aptitude
  • Reasoning Ability

Prelims Exam:

  • Total Number of Questions: 100
  • Total Marks: 100
  • Time Duration: 60 minutes
  • Sections: English Language (30 questions), Quantitative Aptitude (35 questions), Reasoning Ability (35 questions)
  • Negative Marking: 0.25 marks for every wrong answer
  • Sectional Time Limit: 20 minutes for each section

Candidates must clear the minimum sectional cut-off and the overall cut-off to qualify for the Mains examination. The Prelims exam is qualifying in nature, and the marks scored in this phase are not considered for the final merit list.
