England Women vs South Africa Women, Semi-Final 2- The South Africa Women’s Cricket Team and the England Women’s Cricket Team will face off in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023’s Semi-Final 2 on Friday, February 24, 2023. At Newlands in Cape Town, the ENGW vs. SAW Semi-Final 2 match will begin at 6:30 p.m. local time. At 06:00 PM, the match’s toss will take place 30 minutes before play begins. England were cruising after limiting South Africa to 164/4 but the game turned on its head in the last three overs of their innings. England were 131/3 at the end of the 16th over and while South Africa got the big wicket of Nat Sciver-Brunt in the 17th, England seemed to continue being able to score at the same rate. However, Ayabonga Khaka bowled what might go down as the over of the tournament, taking three wickets and turning the game on its head. Shabnim Ismail then dismissed England captain Heather Knight in the last over and sealed the win.

On Friday (February 24), England will play South Africa in the second semifinal of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 at Newlands in Cape Town. Two days later, the winner of the game will face Australia in the final. In the first semifinal, the Australians held off a tough challenge from India to advance to the summit match. The favorite going into Friday’s knockout game is England. They have won all tournament games and easily won Group B. England managed to sneak a four-wicket victory over Ireland after starting their T20 World Cup campaign with an emphatic seven-wicket victory over West Indies. They were met with difficulty by India, but Heather Knight and co. prevailed. They defeated Pakistan by 114 runs in their final group match.

Earlier, South Africa made a slow start to their innings in the powerplay but the openers sped up and put up a strong stand. It ended with Laura Wolvaardt scoring a half century and her opening stand with Tazmin Brits produced 96 runs. Brits then took over and scored her second consecutive half century and South Africa, who have not managed to reach 140 before in this tournament, looked primed to reach 170. Sophie Ecclestone then bowled a stunning 19th over in which she took two wickets but the 20th over then went for 18 to take South Africa to a total of 164/4. South Africa are through to the T20 World Cup final for the first time and they will be facing the mighty Australia on Sunday.

England needed 9 to win off the last ball, Glenn managed to sky that last ball to long-off and not much else and yet, for a couple of seconds, the South Africans didn’t seem to know what to do. Eventually the fielder throws the ball to Ismail who takes off the stumps and the ball is declared dead, after which the celebrations begin. Oh, what pressure does to even the best in the game.
