CGPA to Percentage Calculator – CGPA is known as the cumulative grade point average. It was introduced in the CCE or Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation System for Class X. CGPA gives the average grade point of the student’s performance in all subjects except the additional subject. The subject-wise performance of the students is recorded in the form of grades. CGPA is used to represent the overall performance of the student in the academic session in terms of grades. The CGPA system was introduced to reduce the burden of marks and the stress of examinations among the students. For this reason, some bachelor’s and master’s degrees also use the CGPA system.

CGPA is a unique grading system introduced by CBSE for class 10th. The system will help in converting CGPA to a percentage. CGPA means Cumulative Grade Point Average; This is the average grade point. CGPA is obtained from all subjects within the syllabus without an additional 6th subject. For conversion from CGPA to percentage, the user needs to multiply the CGPA by 9.5. CBSE presents the formula. Indian students (10th standard) are expected to maintain academic records throughout the year. It includes a unit test to help calculate the final CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average).
GPA is a grade point average that reflects the grades obtained by a student in a semester or term. CGPA is different from GPA as CGPA is the grade obtained by the student in the course or the whole year. Although both GPA and CGPA assess a measure of a student’s abilities, CBSE has a curriculum that determines only CGPA but not GPA. Whereas colleges using the CGPA system also calculate the GPA of the students. Different colleges have different criteria for awarding GPAs to students. The basic feature of GPA and CGPA remains the same that GPA is for the grade obtained in a period and CGPA is the grade obtained in the course or the whole year.

Pros and Cons of Using CGPA
Prons
- CGPA system has introduced grading which has reduced the pressure of scoring high marks as marks are not written on the report card.
- The focus may be on different subjects according to the grade. The ability and performance of the subjects can be easily determined.
- Students can be divided into different categories. This makes it easier for teachers to focus on individual groups accordingly.
- It provides the students with a clear idea of their strengths and weakness in academics.
Cons
- The CGPA system eliminates the competitive spirit which is the basis of motivation for some students. By eliminating the competition, students can aim only to clear grades and not score high.
- The result is not accurate. Grades do not accurately reflect the performance of the students. In the CGPA system, 91 marks are also A1 and 100 marks are also A1. Similarly, a score of 89 is A2 and 92 is A1 which is a huge difference in grades but in reality, there is only a difference of 3 points.
- In the CCE system, activities and projects are also responsible for a student’s grades. Therefore, a student can score high grades only by performing better in activities and not in examinations.

The Process of calculating CGPA

Consider the grade marks of 5 subjects as follows:
S1,S2,S3,S4,S5
Grade Point (GP)=S1+S2+S3+S4+S5
CGPA = GP/5
Example:
- Subject 1 Grade = 10
- Subject 2 Grade = 9
- Subjects 3 Grade = 10
- Subject 4 Grade = 8
- Subject 5 Grade = 10
- GP=10+9+10+8+10=47

To calculate the percentage by using the CGPA obtained
Percentage = (CGPAx9.5)
Example:
CGPA=9.4
Percentage=9.4×9.5=89.3
To calculate CGPA using percentage
CGPA = (Percentage/9.5)
Example:

CGPA=89.3/9.5=9.4
