Central Board of Secondary Education Class 12 Assessment Scheme 2024

In the academic year 2024, Central Board of Secondary Education will be implementing the old test pattern which was followed up to 2020. As per the revised CBSE 12th test pattern, there will be one exam in the year. The full marks for each subject will be 100 marks (80 for written exam and 20 for internals and viva). Along with class 12 test pattern the syllabus has also been revised for the session 2024.

CBSE Assessment Scheme Information

  • Only one test will be conducted at the end of the academic session by CBSE Board.
  • Syllabus for some of the subjects will be reduced by 30percent, similarly as the previous two sessions.
  • Efforts will be made to make Internal Assessment/ Practical Project work more credible and valid as per the guidelines and Moderation Policy to be released by the Board to ensure fair distribution of marks.

Examination Details of CBSE Class 12

  • For AY 2024, CBSE 12th exams will be take tentatively in the month of February-March 2024.
  • The question paper will contain Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), short and long solution type questions.
  • The total duration of the test will be three hours.
  • CBSE 12th practice papers are also published as per the new exam pattern.

Qualifying Parameters of CBSE Class 12th

As per the latest marking scheme provided by the Central Board of Secondary Education, the minimum mark required to pass in a subject in the board exam is 33 percent, including theory, practical and internal assessments. Also, the aspirants are required to secure at least 33percent aggregate marks in order to pass the board exam. The bifurcation of scores will be as per the pre Covid era i.e. 70 for theory and 30 for practical and assessments.

  • The marks secure in the practical and internal assessment will be consider together for the calculation of overall marks in Central Board of Secondary Education 12th result.
  • Grace marks will be award on a scale of two to 5 for one subject, if require.
  • Aspirants who secured 33% or above aggregate marks but below 33 in any subject he/she has to appear for the class 12 supplementary exams.
