BMW X3 Features
The BMW X3 is a great SUV that offers a lot of features and options. It has a luxury design and powerful engine, making it perfect for those looking for a premium car. It’s available in different colors and variants, so it’s perfect for anyone looking for an SUV. If you’re looking to buy the BMW X3 in India, be sure to check out our reviews, images, specifications, and variants section. We’ll help you find the perfect option for you.
You sit reasonably high in here, with a commanding view out. This is a boxy and upright cabin compared with BMW’s saloons and estates, and doesn’t pretend to be an SUV coupe a la X4. Good.
It’s not utilitarian though. Since the last X3 the linear, layered design of BMW’s dashboards has given way to a flowing design with more diagonals, and the different sections are better integrated. Materials are now first class, with Line models getting fake leather and M Sport cars real Vernasca leather as standard. Seats are plenty supportive enough. There’s a slightly sportier chair on offer but not available race-style seat option. Mind you, if you miss that you’re missing the point of a family SUV. The classic BMW X3 steering wheel is here though and is still too thick.
The 2021 facelift brought with it a standard 12.3-inch widescreen infotainment system that looks splendid and reacts well to your inputs. The clarity of the instruments and switches remains top-rate too.
The sat navigation system is traffic aware, and easily operated, although you might want to avoid or immediately switch off the gesture control. The i-Drive is good enough that you don’t need to act like a conductor at the proms just to turn up the orchestra.
Before we get into that, let’s through some powertrain options with some figures. The diesels kick off with a 2.0-litre turbo xDrive20d with 187bhp and an impressive 295lb ft of torque. Up from that is a 282bhp/479lb ft Drive, before the range is topped by the M40d, which actually uses the same 3.0-litre six-cylinder but with 335bhp and 516lb ft of torque. The latter manages an impressive 0-62mph time of 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 155mph.
The X3 is certainly powerful enough though and you’ll seldom dip your toe into the accelerator’s deep waters. That’s because this can shove you along on all that torque, and the eight-speed auto is beautifully calibrated to take advantage.
Although it’s by no means silent, masses of relaxed and elastic urge is always there for the taking, even as the rev-counter stays in the subdued region of the dial. Mash it and the revs climb high for a diesel, the straight-six sound percolates and you’re looking at 0-62mph in 5.7 seconds. All are mild-hybrids too, meaning the 48-volt acts like an eager start/stop system.
