About Birsa Agricultural University
In 1945, the Bihar Agricultural College at Sabour in the Bhagalpur district marked the beginning of agricultural education in the state. Later, it became clear that the plateau region of South Bihar differs from the rest of Bihar in terms of its agricultural situation and characteristics. As a result, this region required a second college. Ranchi Veterinary College opened in 1961, Ranchi Agricultural College opened in 1955, and Ranchi College of Forestry opened in 1980.
The Rajendra Agricultural University, the first agricultural university in Bihar, opened in 1971 with its headquarters in Pusa because of the significance of agricultural education for the state’s agricultural development.
