Eastwind Hotel & Bar
“hand-woven Turkish rugs, custom wall-hangings, Masaya & Co. furniture, and private fire pits” decorated the stylish rooms and suites at this small lodge, 150 miles north of New York City, according to Kseu in 2018. However, in September of last year, Eastwind added stand-alone cabins with private decks, hammocks, and outdoor showers that were inspired by Scandinavian design and are referred to as Lushna Suites (pictured). If the spring weather hasn’t yet reached “outdoor shower” temperatures, these A-frame beauties also come equipped with warm Pendleton robes.)
Hotel Kinsley
In Kingston, New York’s Uptown neighborhood, you’ll find this chic stay spread out across two historic buildings. The headquarters of the hotel are in a bank building from the 19th century that has been meticulously restored to include 10 guest rooms, a gorgeous restaurant and bar designed by Studio Robert McKinley, a small spa treatment room, and a sauna. A three-story 1770 mansion is housed in a sister building a few blocks away. The mansion is equipped with every modern convenience, including Bluetooth-enabled Tivoli Audio headphones and heated bathroom floors. Each of the 13 rooms is a little different, but the ones with pedestal bathtubs, which should be on your Instagram grid, are the real showstopper. Four guesthouses will be available when the hotel opens two more later this year.)
Kenoza Hall
This recently renovated property, which was once a boarding house, is the most recent of Foster Supply Company’s five Catskills-area hotels. In a recent issue, senior editor Sarah Bruning of T+L wrote that Kenoza “marries historic touches like the original hardwood floors with custom elements, including sleigh beds.” Daily wellness-focused programming, such as yoga, hydrotherapy, and meditation, are offered as a complement to other strenuous activities like canoeing, hiking, and canoeing.” This season, the sixth Foster Supply hotel, Hotel Darby, is scheduled to open near Narrowsburg, New York.

Bruning wrote in a recent issue of our, “This rustic yet refined getaway — the brainchild of Catskills resident Jay Jacobs — has graphic textured wallpaper and restored wood-burning stoves.” Spring skiing at Hunter Mountain, ziplining in warmer weather, or hiking to the dramatic Kaaterskill Falls are all within a short drive.
Starlite Motel
Our associate editor Liz Cantrell has made it a must-visit due to the vintage vibes and proximity to some of the best trails in the Catskills.” In June, this stylish re-do of a 1960s roadside motel opened. This is the ideal location for a weekend of intense hiking because it is only a short drive from Mohonk Preserve and Minnewaska State Park. Additionally, the expansive saltwater pool and canteen-style bar will aid in recuperation. Although there are 16 traditional rooms, I’m most interested in the camper, which will be available for reservations this summer.
Urban Cowboy
This lodge has 28 rooms and is on the edge of the Big Indian Wilderness, a 33,500-acre New York State-managed area with hiking and other outdoor activities. Bruning says, however, that guests can also hang out closer to home base: During meals at the live-fire restaurant, which focuses on foraged, seasonal ingredients, guests mingle at the nightly bonfires. Swimming and fishing for trout in the Esopus Creek, which runs through the property, are among the on-site activities.”
