Assam Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan- The West Bengal government has proposed an additional plan for tea garden workers, including financial aid for house construction. During the 2025-2025 budget presentation, the West Bengal Finance Minister announced the launch of the state’s “Cha Sundari Extension Scheme”.
This program is essentially an enhanced version of the West Bengal Government’s previous Cha Sundari Scheme, also known as the “West Bengal Chaa Sundari Extension Scheme” or “West Bengal Cha Sundari Extension Prakalpa.” Over 23,000 tea garden workers have been given plots of land by the state to build their own homes on.
Assam Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan 2025
The Cha Sundari Scheme, launched by the West Bengal administration in September 2020, provides homes for tea garden workers. This project aimed to provide free housing units to homeless and underprivileged tea garden workers. Along with this, the government granted land rights to some workers in this area.
To date, it is estimated that 2500 acres of land, as well as residential plots of up to 5 decimals, have been distributed for the construction of dwellings for West Bengal’s needy and landless tea plantation workers.
