Animal Friends Movie- With live-action and animated characters from writing team Kevin Burrows and Matt Mider, Legendary has assembled an all-star cast for their upcoming movie, Animal Friends. Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool 3), Jason Momoa (Fast X), Vince Vaughn (Bad Monkey), and Aubrey Plaza (Megalopolis) will all play part.

The project’s plot, which is billed as an adventure road trip with a R rating, is being kept under wraps. The Machine’s Emmy-winning director, Peter Atencio, is in charge. On Friday, August 15, 2025, Animal Friends will be released nationwide. On the same day, three more films will be released. The actor’s other forthcoming projects include the action comedy Shots! Shots! Shots! from Uni, the Apple series Chief of War, the Warner Bros. action comedy Killer Vacation, which also stars John Cena, and the Minecraft movie.

What is Animal Friends about?

The upcoming film, according to Deadline, is a hybrid of live-action and animation (think Detective Pikachu or Who Framed Roger Rabbit). The creative team behind the R-rated road trip adventure is Kevin Burrows and Matt Mider. Animal Friends Movie Cast

Reynolds most recently played opposite Will Ferrell in Apple’s widely-liked Christmas musical comedy Spirited. Before Animal Friends, Reynolds starred in Shawn Levy’s hit film Free Guy, as well as The Adam Project and Red Notice, two of the most-watched Netflix films ever. In addition to numerous other projects, the Critics Choice Award winner will reprise his role as the Merc with a Mouth in Deadpool 3, which is now in production.

Story

Momoa most recently starred in Steven Knight’s three-season sci-fi drama series See on Apple. In recent years, Momoa has also been in movies like Aquaman, Slumberland, Dune, and Zack Snyder’s Justice League. He plays a new Fast & Furious series villain in Fast X, which is scheduled for release by Uni on May 19, and he reprises his role as the latter DC superhero in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which opens in theatres on December 20.
